space travel looks like no wonder humans haven't made it past mars look at that rocket ship there's not even a poo ejector for traveling light years well the science may not be advanced but the design has unity what's unity it's the feeling that things are all part of the same hole like that rocket ship see how all of its fins are the same shape and size that makes it function as one rocket ship the designers need the rocket to be unified for it to be able to travel into space but those fins could never slingshot a rocket ship past the dark do dad for sure though i'm not sure what a dark doodad is look unity doesn't just make things look like they belong together unity can make things work better together too like lines on the road mean the same thing all over the country so no matter who drives what where you know which lane is yours wow the same meaning all over for everyone there unity see how all those spaceships coming in are moving the same way around the rocket as they blasted but why are those aliens so violent this filmmaker wanted to make the movie scarier but that's not how aliens are we aren't scary only peaceful cultures can travel outside their solar system and visit with creatures on other planets and everyone in the universe knows that yeah but you see ziggy the director who made this has their own point of view and it's their art so they get to choose how to show aliens should've talked to an alien first [Music] jack i don't want to watch this movie anymore no problem ziggy the on button works both ways so art can just say anything the artist wants yeah even if it makes people believe bad things art is a chance for an artist to send out a message even something as simple as this you know my friend holly is coming over today to help make a poster for the art center benefit she's going to show us the process of making collage she should show us both who knows collage could even be the thing to help you send your message okay what's collage is process my feelings let's make a collage for this you'll need lots of paper construction paper or color on blank paper you'll also need a poster board a glue stick and scissors now think of a feeling you've been feeling a lot lately write it down cut paper that expresses that feeling to you through colors shapes and textures next arrange the pieces into a unified pattern finally glue everything the benefit poster to have i think so buy tickets to support a great cause and have fun right that sounds great oh ziggy have you thought about what your message is going to be well i'm still thinking and great minds think you should make a collage of all the ways that filmmaker was wrong about aliens well this collage is a chance to say something positive that matters so you already know what to say i keep thinking about it it makes some art humans i know what i want my art to say i want my message to be i come in peace i like that ziggy that's a perfect powerful message to send to those alien movie maker ziggy someone's making an alien movie they already did and it was terrible and not true and and it made me want to tell everybody what's real about me and the other aliens well collage is a great way to communicate that ziggy you know i never realized that collage would use so much engineering it's a real process to get this advertisement done yes gluing all those pieces takes a lot of planning and patience i love the layers and the textures that you put on your poster is texture the way these papers feel that's right ziggy oh neat because each one feels very different like well this one is wavy and this one is bumpy and oh the one with stripes over here well that one feels slick like plastic that's right and the great thing about collage is you put all these different things together and they look like they belong unity yes unity and collage also needs harmony where you feel like all pieces are important and they work together and they belong together just like our junkyard family we're all different jack and pat river and nick cynthia and action out in me but we all work really great together that's right ziggy we have unity and harmony happening right here at the junkyard whoa hey ollie hey everybody how's the poster for the benefit coming great good i actually made an announcement on the radio about the benefit a little while ago you know i guess this is all just advertising being part of the process of getting ready it definitely helps the whole thing come together and be successful well ziggy are you ready to share your collage with us um yes i think it's ready it's the first time i saw this planet right there out my rocket ship window i come all this way and now here it was this blue green planet that was going to be my home only i didn't know any of you and you all didn't know me but we'd get to know you zig yes but at first you were scared i was just an alien to you and you were all scared because of all your wrong alien movies that show us as violent monster visitors and i'm none of those things except new here and maybe green well you're definitely green but i get what you mean ziggy people can be told to be scared of something their whole lives through things like movies and neighbors talking and plain old worry until they're so scared of that thing they blasted with the biggest blaster around if it keeps it away from them and all along it was never something to be scared of just something new that they didn't know yet or understand it's a wonderful collage ziggy you made earth look whole and peaceful yeah man like one big beautiful place and you know i'm thinking you're very good at framing an image it's all those movies we've been watching you're beginning to think in frames hey there's an idea why don't you try your hand at movie making ziggy make a movie [Music] hi dad i need more art today i made this thing called collage where you stick a bunch of different stuff whatever you want really down on something hard you keep gluing and gluing things on top of each other until they come together to make a picture i made a picture of earth the first time i saw it from my rocket ship it made me kind of miss home but maybe glad i'm here at the same time there's so much more i want to learn about the arts and about humans and there's so much more humans need to learn about me i
