(upbeat music) (upbeat music fades) - The Utah Pride Center unites, empowers, and celebrates Utah's diverse LGBTQIA+ community, and here to tell us about the upcoming open house to celebrate their new location is Jackson Carter.
Hi, Jackson.
- Hi, Mary.
Thank you so much for having us.
- Of course.
- Yeah.
- Well, your new center location, it's very exciting.
- Yes, we got so, so lucky after we moved from our old ballpark location, which I'm sure a lot of the viewers are familiar with.
We're on the ninth floor of the McIntyre Building downtown.
Are you familiar with the McIntyre Building?
- Oh, beautiful, on the west side of the street.
- Stunning.
Yes, west side of the City Creek Mall, same block as the west side.
Two free hours free parking down underneath the City Creek Mall, which you can never find free parking downtown.
We're in a beautiful historic building up on the top floor, and, like, my favorite part is we have skylights, so you can see the sky, see the snow.
It's so beautiful.
And we have a gorgeous wraparound balcony, so you can go out and see the skyline of the entire city from our little building.
So, oh, it's so wonderful and I want everyone to come see you it our open house.
- Look how excited you are.
- Yeah.
- So tell us when the open house is.
- Open house is gonna be Saturday, November 9th from two o'clock to five o'clock at the new building.
- Okay, and what will be going on there?
I know you're bringing parts of the AIDS Quilt.
- Yeah, so actually, we're hosting a section, this is a very special thing that we get to do this year, we're hosting a section of the AIDS Quilt, and we believe that one of the panels on this section is the first to come out of Utah back in the '80s to honor a drag queen, a person of color named Michael Spence.
He performed as Tracy Ross.
Sadly died during the '80s.
And so we get to have Michael's panel, along with multiple other panels on this big, beautiful block of the AIDS Quilt, which will be on display from November 1st until December 22nd.
But the best time to come see it is obviously during the open house 'cause there's also gonna be food and games and all sorts of stuff to give away.
- Perfect.
Well, I'm excited for it, and thanks so much for being here.
- Thanks for having us.
- And if you want to know more about the new center for the Utah Pride, it's open house is November 9th, a Saturday, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., and the new location is 68 South Main Street on the ninth floor.
That's in the McIntyre Building.
