Our guest today, Kerrie Upenieks, is here with details about this year's event.
Hi, Kerrie.
Thanks for being here.
So the 11th year already?
- Yes.
- Wow.
And you invite all sorts of students in schools from other schools, right?
- From all across the valley.
We encourage students from science fair and STEM projects, as well as universities and businesses that have STEM to demonstrate.
So lots of different entities coming together for this event.
- Boy, no kidding.
And they get to see some pretty amazing projects.
How many students do you get about?
- We have 800 in our school.
- Wow.
- But we also have other robotics teams that come.
So we have over 900 students approximately there.
- [Mary] Who come and show their projects.
- Mm-hmm.
- And some of them are pretty amazing.
- They are.
- So tell me about some of the projects that really make you go, "Wow."
- We had a student that 3D printed his motocross engine last year to show how the pistons worked.
And so many different avenues with that one.
We have chemistry projects such as the fire tornado, which demonstrates forest fires and how they create their own weather system- - Wow.
- as well as the robotics and the FIRST Lego League teams demonstrating their coding and their challenges and all those wonderful things.
- These are smart kids.
- Yes.
- Yeah.
And I think what's nice, you invite businesses to come see these demos.
- So we have businesses that do demonstrations.
We've had Sub-Zero come and talk about how they use liquid nitrogen to make their ice cream.
HawkWatch has been there, Living Planet Aquarium, doTERRA.
So we've had quite a few different businesses come.
- Wow.
So it's a great thing to see.
And it's free?
- Free, open to the public.
- And goes like all day the 27th, how long?
- It's from 11:00 to 2:00, come and go.
- All right, So people are gonna go see really amazing things.
Well, thank you Kerrie for being here.
Thanks.
- Thank you.
