(gentle music) - In the past, we didn't have a name for it.

We just called it the North Division Bike Shop or the North Division Shop.

But we asked the kids in the past what'd you wanna call this place and they call it, they wanted to see it's legit, so they call it Valid, the Valid Bike Shop.

(gentle music continues) My first job was a mechanics, so they taught, so I had to go to training.

They taught me how, like, how to fix the mechanical part of bikes and how to fix a flat.

How to replace the cable within the shifters or the brake.

How to replace a tire.

How to clean the chain, re-grease it, and everything else.

As you go and experience the mechanical side for a year, you learn new things on the way.

(gentle music continues) (backup horn beeping) (truck door rattling) Normally when someone brings their bike at a, like at a park, they normally tell us what's wrong with the bike.

They say, "Oh, it's the braking system, something about the brakes."

So I focus on only on the brakes 'cause they're saying it's the brakes.

I test ride it.

If it's the cable, then I'll just need to replace it or readjust the tension, I guess, for it.

Then I'll do the other checks like does the pedal works, does the bottom bracket moves, the chain gears shift into the right gears, the tire pressure's the right tire pressure?

Check if anything that's loose that should be tightened up a little bit?

Then we just set it off to its owner.

(gentle music continues) It's a feel of accomplishment that you fixed the bike and you gave the bike to who needs it, who wants to ride a bike.

And it gives me joy and an accomplishment at the same time.
