Valley Forge was a winter encampment for the Continental Army under the command of George Washington.
The Pennsylvania encampment lasted six months, from December 19th, 1777 to June 19th, 1778.
An estimated 1700 to 2000 soldiers at Valley Forge died from disease, possibly exacerbated by malnutrition and cold, wet weather.
