In settling 71 claims of negligence, the state admits no wrongdoing
The state is paying out an additional almost $16 million to families of people who died of COVID-19 in veterans homes. The money settles 71 claims of negligence against the state during the early days of the pandemic. This is the second settlement over wrongful death claims in veterans homes. The first was in December when NJ agreed to pay $53M to families of residents who died due to coronavirus.
