And he was like, hey, you want to be in a band?
I was like, who's in it, tell me the guys.
And I was like, yeah count me in.
- I think that was the story for everyone.
I think it's hard to start a new project.
And of course I've known most of these guys most of my life and just like Justin said, just hit someone up and hey, you wanna come jam out, try something new?
And everyone was down for it.
- I think I was the last one to join for sure.
Isaac called me up and said, hey man, come try out.
And the rest is history.
Came in and they started playing some songs that they've been working on.
And then I started just freestyling over it.
They liked what they heard and they let me stay, so it was pretty cool.
We haven't really played many live shows.
We're not a cover band, so it's not like we make money doing this.
I mean, we love to play live but it hasn't really affected us really.
I mean, we miss playing live.
We wanna play live.
But when we get into the, to the jam, the jam space and write, that's where, that's where we really enjoy it.
You know, just writing together, recording our music getting it out there.
And I don't think it's affected us in a way like, man, I wish we could play live, but it's definitely something that we wanna do in the foreseeable future.
- We were in the middle of recording an album and it, of course, postponed all of that.
We waited maybe four or five months later for everything to settle, I felt like most of the world did too and slowly started getting back into the studio to pick back up where we left off.
And from there it became nice or easier since because it's, I mean, one of the pros of the pandemic is we're able to get together more often and then write and finish the album versus picking up a show here and there.
It allowed us to focus more, more on it.

- We'd have like our ideas on your phone, you know where you go to a jam session and you're like, psh hit record on the phone and then put it in like a hoodie or something so that way it filters noise.
And you know, there's the idea where with, you know, Isaac, he invested so much in turning his garage into a studio and he has everything miked up and spoils us because we get to use in-ear systems.
And we don't have to crank it and have earphones, everything is, feels like it's on a professional level and it's really unique to our situation and that we get to keep our hearing.
- We're very fortunate with it.
- Definitely a big impact from him on that, because I think if you take it back to high school, you just go on all these shows and you're right in front of the speaker, or at least I know I was.
And then when I first had started jamming with him 10 years ago or further, in Still Not Famous I used to be just right next to his, you know, his drums and his cymbals and he's just bashing it.
And I realized I was losing hearing in the right side of my ear.
So then he would make recommendations, use these ear-o's or whatever they're called.
I don't know what they're, what they're called.
But after time I got my hearing back, I was like what the hell?
I never wanna go back to doing that again.
Especially with like, you know, his in-ear rig 'cause we can just control our levels and don't have to get crazy loud just to have a jam session or a writing session.
- I went a little far, further than most people I think.

And so I just came in and I fit to their needs, to the, what the song needs.
And as we progressed as a band and matured we started building on ideas.
Mo would come in with a riff, Justin would build on that.
CJ would write to it and go along with Isaac's beat.
And then we'd kind of just jam it.
And as we kept jamming it, it would progress into something.
And then what would we say, we'd vice versa it.
We'd vice versa the song.
- There's been a few songs where literally just jamming a song and someone just starts with a riff.
Everyone builds on it and just a few of those songs, we just complete them in one go like the main idea already has verses, choruses.
We hit a bridge in there somewhere and some kind of outro and it's very impressive, jamming with these guys.
- Yeah, just being comfortable with each other knowing how one person plays or what they might do, and like, as far as the drum beat might go, I can kind of guess what Isaac might do next and kind of play along with that.
And I think over the last year and especially with the new album I think you can kind of tell it a lot more.
We've matured, we've gotten more comfortable with each other and you can kind of tell that from the music and everything.
- I find myself not getting complacent with the guys.
I'm still trying to impress them, so they'll let me stay in the band.
But I think that's a good thing.
You still wanting to create good music and you know, you're not, so it's okay.
It's, you know, no, we want it to sound good.
We want it to be cool.
And if it's cool to these guys from what I'm, from what I'm doing, then I know we've got something and I feel that they're the same way as well.
