Wildfire in Bass River State Forest 50% contained by Friday

Smoke from 5,000-acre wildfire has contributed to poor air quality across the state

The Allen Road fire that began Wednesday night in Bass River State Forest was 50% contained as of Friday afternoon, according to the state Forest Fire Service. Smoke from the fire combined with fog briefly led to closure of a 25-mile stretch of the Garden State Parkway Friday morning.
