a clash between local and federal law enforcement new Jerseys acting US attorney Alina Habba is criticizing the New Jersey State Police for issuing a memo warning officers not to help federal immigration agents with arresting or detaining people solely based on their immigration status otherwise known as civil enforcement as first reported by New Jersey Monitor Habba slammed the police force on social media writing quote "Let me be clear executive orders will be followed and enforced in the state of New Jersey," referencing President Trump's actions to ramp up deportations of undocumented immigrants since taking office in the memo cops are reminded to follow the attorney general's 2018 immigrant trust directive which allows them to make arrests based on judicial warrants those are signed by a judge but not administrative warrants which are issued by ICE attorney General Matt Platkin pushed back against accusations of New Jersey being a so-called sanctuary state saying officers are still able to work with federal agents to remove quote violent criminals from the country [Music]
