Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small has been indicted on witness tampering charges after allegedly instructing his daughter to lie to police during an investigation into allegations of child abuse, according to prosecutors.

Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipAtlantic City Mayor Marty small has been indicted for a second time in the case of alleged child abuse against his teenage daughter this charge accuses small of witness tampering after he allegedly told his daughter to lie to police during the investigation of that case the original allegations accuse mayor small and his wife La'Quetta small who is Atlantic City's superintendent of schools of endangering the welfare of a child by repeatedly abusing and assaulting their teenage daughter hitting her in the head with a broom and knocking her unconscious this new charge alleges that small told his daughter to quote twist up the story of how she suffered those head injuries in January telling her to blame it on a fall in her bedroom now according to the charges their daughter was punched in the face and body thrown down the stairs and dragged by her hair among a number of other abuses the Atlantic City prosecutor's office announced this latest indictment yesterday while mayor small was delivering his end-of-year press conference highlighting his achievements in the city [Music]
