Biden administration seeks protections for the Hudson Canyon

Biden’s goal is to protect 30% of the nation’s land and waters by 2030

The Biden administration is pushing forward with plans to protect an underwater canyon just off the Jersey Shore and turn into a marine sanctuary. The Hudson Canyon is a nearly 2-mile deep crack in the sea floor, considered the largest underwater canyon on the East Coast. The proposal is now subject to public comment as the administration gathers input from the fishing and offshore wind industries
