NJ student makes it to national spelling bee finals

A young New Jerseyan has spelled her way to the Scripps National Spelling Bee finals. Thirteen-year-old Nitya Kathiravan of Somerset was one of seven New Jersey students who entered this year’s contest. The Rutgers Preparatory School eighth-grader competes for the championship on Thursday at 8 p.m. The Spelling Bee will be live and in person for the first time since 2019.
