Virginia is joining a growing number of states addressing cell phone use in public schools.
Governor Glenn Youngkin issued an executive order calling for the creation of a public school cell phone policy by January, citing that cell phone usage impacts students ability to learn.
Maternity care advocates are demanding change after a secret shopper survey found significant gaps in coverage for pregnant women on Medicaid.
95% of calls made seeking prenatal care did not result in appointments, largely because of inaccurate provider lists that came from managed care organizations.
LaKEISHA COOK: As a Black mother, I am deeply disturbed and concerned by these findings.
It is unimaginable that people across the Commonwealth who need prenatal and maternal health care cannot receive adequate services from providers receiving state resources.
BILLY SHIELDS: Some of the providers on those lists didn't offer prenatal care, and those that did more than 10% were not taking new patients.
Virginia could become the first state in the country to use a small modular nuclear reactor to deliver power to residents.
Dominion energy is accepting proposals to build a reactor at its North Anna power station in Louisa County.
Current plans would put one in North Anna sometime in the next decade.
