This week, Richmond City Council proposed more than two dozen amendments to Mayor Levar Stoney's budget.
Council members want to remove $3 million in funding from the Richmond Coliseum demolition project, add $17 million to Richmond Public Schools and fund a variety of initiatives, including a $10 million development in the city's South Side.
A vote is planned for Monday.
This weekend, nearly 5000 Virginia Commonwealth University students will graduate.
Governor Glenn Youngkin is giving the commencement speech.
In response, some students are planning to walk out.
Youngkin says, GLENN YOUNGKIN: Anyone who thinks theyre going to disrupt this for their own personal goals, I think, is misguided.
Let's celebrate the students.
KEYRIS MANZANARES: And a state budget negotiator told VPM News on Thursday that a two-year spending plan has been tentatively reached.
Delegate Luke Torian, who chairs the House Appropriations Committee, says the plan keeps Democrats spending increases but does not include a new digital sales tax or require Virginia to rejoin the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.
The General Assembly is set to vote Monday.
