We didn't have a group so him an together.
He had some songs and so did I with another friend.
Smiley: We had the same idea.
Frank: (Interrupting) That's not true.
(Gasps and Laughter) Etzel: How is it not true?
Selene: Drama!
Etzel: We had all gotten together befor but this project started-- Frank: The majority of us have been in other groups.
Smiley: But we're talking about -- (simultaniously) Wamaygallo!
Smiley: So before Wamaygallo, we'd all b in different groups.
Etzel: And this is very important in th that we have.
...we fight a lot.
SELENE: We fight a lot!
Etzel: So we started recording some son and we said-- Frank: (Interrupting) You're blocking me again!
(Laughter) Etzel: (Continuing) we said, "let's invite these guy Selene: (to Frank) Well sit up straight!
Etzel: (Continuing) and it was great, it's been grea Selene: Wamaygallo started with Etzel and with Smiley.
They both, like, started to come with their songs and everything and then they asked us if we wan record them and we said, " Arre !

But all of our families always - frontier Mexicans-- Etzel & Selene: (Simultaniously) There was always cumbia!
Etzel: in our family parties... Selene: (simultaniously) with Me there will be cumbias!
Etzel: So it influences our music and so we get back to.... Selene: We get back to our roots, which are cumbias.
It's in our... you know in all o roots.
We've listened to cumbias since we were kids.
And our music has cumbia but we that punk-rock aspect.
Which we have because we are like kind of... a little...non-t But we love traditional Columbia So we get a lot of influence fro but we also have rock, ska...whi is a bit more American or from J or Mexican.
Frank: We're becoming our parents... Selene: (translating) we are becoming our parents!
(Laughter) Frank: We're getting old.
Selene: Exactly, that!

Selene: Personally, I've developed, like a flame, like a certain anger that I just don't know how to do except play music.
So I'm gonna try and play someth maybe talks about what is currently happening.
With what's happening with immig and all that.
We have our problems with that, ...and yes.
Yes, all that has de affected us.
Everything that is happening pol Etzel: There was a lot of tension with the Walmart shooting... ...but then that was it.
Because violence tends to get people's attention.
But...
There are still a lot of immigra in the different camps where families get separated.
Selene: (Interrupting, simultani there are still kids in cages!
Etzel: People are still getting deporte and getting dumped back at the b So the thing about our music is Well it highlights our border and its social issues.
