(upbeat music) - Wasatch Community Gardens Love Local Holiday Market features local artists and talents with a focus on garden-themed vendors, and everything from ceramics to jewelry and herbal products.
And here to tell us all about it is Katie Dyer.
Did I say your name right?
Katie- - Dwyer.
- Dwyer.
- Almost there.
- Dwyer.
Anyway, welcome Katie.
Thanks for being here.
I know you were here last year, and you've got lots going on in this market.
So talk about all the garden-themed products you're gonna have.
- Sure.
We absolutely will.
And I'll start out by saying a lot of folks think of Wasatch Community Gardens as purely a gardening organization, but we're very much a community-building organization.
So this is an excellent time for folks to come to our gardens in the off-season while the gardens are put to bed, enjoy some mingling, some hot tea, hot cocoa, mulled wine, and shop the 30-plus vendors we'll have there.
Many of them will be garden-themed, nature-themed vendors.
We very much focus on local vendors using local products.
And we focus on up-and-coming vendors.
So our price-point for entry into the market for vendors is much lower than some other markets.
So it allows us to feature some newer vendors, some folks who are just starting to kind of hone their market craft.
And it's really fun.
- It's great.
Yeah.
And I think you've got more than 30, so people will have a wide variety of things.
I mean, honey, you've got local honeys.
- Exactly.
- You've got everything.
- Hand-dyed textiles, using dyes made from gardens.
It's some really unique finds.
- That's great.
And I know you've got special things for kids.
There's always something for the kids.
- We do.
We have a youth in school garden program, and they will be running a do-it-yourself ornament making table for children.
- Ah, great, great.
- And of course they can say hi to our mascot, the WCG Tomato, who will be dressed up all in holiday gear, and they can take photos with the tomato.
There will be a quilt auction, a holiday-themed quilt auction there for adults as well.
So something for everybody.
- You've got it all.
And there is a $5 admission fee?
- Exactly.
- Right, right.
- $5, and children five and under are free.
And that just helps us to cover the costs of the market.
- That's great, 'cause you've got some... And food trucks.
You've got food trucks.
- (chuckles) Yes.
In case it's cold.
There's always a chance it'll be cold on December 7th.
So all the food trucks will be offering warm food, hot tamales and empanadas and others, yeah.
- Thank you so much for being here.
Thank you.
- Thank you, Mary.
