(upbeat music playing) - Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company's production "On Repeat" explores the traditions, habits and patterns that make us who we are.
And here to tell us more, is artistic director Jessica Heaton.
Hi Jessica, thanks for being here.
- Thank you.
- Why don't you tell us first, more about Wasatch Contemporary Dance, you've been around a while.
- Yeah, we've been around twelve and a half years, We're based in Provo, and it's just been great to be a part of Utah County as it grows, as it becomes a hub for the arts.
Our mission is to create a creative and compassionate community through dance.
And we really feel like the arts as a whole, but especially dance, has this ability to really help us connect with each other, to see different viewpoints, and just access our better selves.
- And boy, do we need that.
(laughs) So yeah, and your show "On Repeat" okay kind of tell us what we can expect with this show.
- Sure.
- There's a lot going on.
- There is, yeah, this is a great show, we're really excited about it.
It'll be November 11th and 12th, at the new Orem Library Hall.
That's the new theater they've just built about a year ago, on the side of the Orem Library.
So, it's a beautiful new venue, we're excited to be there.
Like you said, this show is about traditions, habits, patterns, and we have some really thought provoking pieces, but some really fun ones as well.
We cover everything from family, all the way to football.
We have, yeah, football.
It'll be a lot of fun.
We have a dance film we're debuting, that is just the juncture where dance and football meet, - Aha.
- And it's just purely for fun, we had a great time putting that together.
We also have some really unique props we're working with.
So, our associate director, Jocelyn Smith she's been working with a network of fabric, that connects seven dancers together.
That's been really exciting to watch that unfold, and very inspiring to watch.
Another of our company choreographers, Heather Norton, has been working with turntables.
These are like...
Imagine like a lazy susan- - Oh yeah.
- on a dining room table, but we built them for dancers, (laughs) so we we watch them expertly spin on these turntables, throughout the whole piece, so that's- - Wonderful.
- really exciting.
- Well, a lot of fun things to see- - Yes.
- and thank you so much for being here.
- Thanks.
Yeah.
- And if you would like to know more about that upcoming concert of the Wasatch Contemporary Dance "On Repeat", November 11th and 12th at seven thirty, in the new Orem Library Hall.
