Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(lively upbeat music) - When you're waxing, you can either have a more universal wax, which will work in most temperatures and snow conditions, or you can pick a wax that will work for the specific temperatures and the specific snow conditions that you're skiing in for the day.
So a downhill ski, you're only putting on a glide wax 'cause you're just going down the hill.
With cross country skis, there's two types of skis, there's a skate ski and a classic ski.
With a skate ski, you would just be applying a glide wax from the tip to the tail of the ski.
With a classic ski, you would be applying glide wax on the front of the ski and the back of the ski and then in the middle of the ski you would put a sticky kick wax.
Once you've waxed the ski, the wax applied to the ski, you would then take a scraper if you're using paraffin wax and scrape off the excess wax.
And then from there you would brush the ski out with a couple of different brushes to get down to kind of a final polished ski, which would be ready to ski on.
