Four for one that's right!

Does anybody need any kind of help, support, services at this time?
I'm trying to make my bag lighter.
So you're helping me out?
Here you go.
There you go.
There you go.
Some people call a backpack that I have the scramble bag.
Nutri-Grain bars, Gatorade, water, but what I have is a lot of information.
First of all, resources, to say, hey, I'm not here to, judge you.
Something to start for today, but for tomorrow, here's more resources.
Here's my phone number.
Here are some of the places that I know they are willing to help.
Have you been checking in with your, case manager at Saint Francis.
My title is RTD Navigation Case Manager.
This position was, put out by the Jefferson Center for Mental Health.
They were looking for person to go and do outreach to our homeless or our unhoused.
I retired from Denver PD and I came over RTD in 2015, in Oct And when I was in charge of the suspension program, We were getting a lot of clinicans Especially from the mental health center from Denver, which now is WellPower They were calling up and saying ‘Hey you suspended Joe He needs to come in.
He need to get his medicine.
He needs to come visit us.
Public transportation is his only form of transportation get to see us.
So I had asked if we could try a pilot program.
They loaned us a clinician for about it's supposed to be 60 days, but within the first couple of weeks, they realized how important this program was.
What we were seeing was a lot of our data capturing a lot of the individuals that were having mental health episodes were homeless.
We then looked at our data and put in for a federal grant We won the position to have a homeless outreach navigator The opportunity came up, I looked on there and said ‘Hey!
Wait, I am uniquely qualified.
Because I've driven a number of their routes.
I'm familiar with, some of the situations that, operators deal with as well as what are some ways that I can use my counselor skills to connect those, who are not comfortable with people just walking up to them.
You know, mental health illness is a medical condition, its not criminal.
Being unhoused is not criminal.
I'm at 2100 North Broadway.
Okay, so you're able to get to 2100 North Broadway.
When?
Tomorrow and tomorrow.
Yeah.
Yeah, sure.
I'll go there.
All right, Miss Ria I'm gonna give him some bus tickets in order to get to you tomorrow.
A lot of people say, wow, Alton , “You're doing this all by yourself!
” No, I am not.
I'm one person doing it.
But by collaborating with different agencies, different persons and different situations allows me to navigate quickly.
Yeah were out in the community we share resources Alton may find someone is looking for recovery and looking for sober living.
Hell call me.
At 1:00pm there going to be doing lunch right here.
You good there?
Yeah, I do the sandwhich and coffee.
All right.
All right.
Stay safe.
Jessie, and or Alton can help folks with housing and to see if they're on the list to, to find housing.
I want folks to know that I'm not perfect.
I've been in recovery for almost 20 years.
Its not so punitive now.
They're not putting folks in jail.
They're they're hiring folks like us to get out to reach, individuals.
So for me, it's my passion.
It's like, if I can do it, you can do it, I'm gonna meet you where you're at if you're not ready for treatment.
Well, let's try to keep you safe.
Let's try.
Let's talk about the meth clinics.
Let's talk about harm reduction.
Yeah.
If you're interested in housing, homes, food, We got those kind of things Its really we all fall down.
We've all had situations where we need to ask help.
My goal is to reach out to the whole community because we are in this all together.
It takes a village.
I don't have shoes on me, but I can tell you.
Usually at Saint Francis, there's some shoes there, if you're interested.
When life gives you a house, move it.
