Garlic is a fall crop, which means you plant it in the fall and it kind of sits over the winter and then sprouts in the spring.
Were hoping to have a bunch of students out here today just to really take part in experiencing getting their hands dirty.
Our club's name is Plant the Revolution.
We're all about getting students engaged with local food systems and organic agriculture.
We prepared this garlic for planting with students.
Each of the little cloves and a head will be planted, put about like six or eight inches apart.
And then come August well harvest the garlic and do this whole process over again.
The prospect of locally grown food grown by yourself and your community is such an empowering thing to do.
I hope I can get students to feel as half as passionately about this stuff that I do.
