And we're off and running.
Great to have you with us here for game notes on LPB on this Saturday morning with my Super Bowl champ partner, Scott Shanley.
I'm Victor Hall.
Let's talk about in week two a lot of marquee matchups in week one.
A step back from those a little bit, but we have plenty to talk about here on game notes, including two games that have in-state matchups here in Louisiana.
We have two teams from North Louisiana.
They're going North Platte up in the Big Ten.
Plus, John Summerall takes his Green Wave to Mobile to familiar stomping grounds to face a team that he personally is very familiar with.
But let's start with the story that really has been the developing news in the state of Louisiana for the last, say, 36 hours ago.
And that news is centered in the city of Lafayette and the region.
Cajuns, because they are going into their second game tonight with their second starting quarterback.
You might remember one week ago they played rice lost 14 to 12, but it was late in that ball game that Walker Howard starting quarterback is trying to lead the team on a game winning drive down two, but starting from his own end zone.
Here's a look at what happened.
It seemed very innocent.
He drops back to pass.
Completes the pass to the left hand side, and it doesn't look like he's under any pressure at all.
But once the play is complete, you go back to the end zone and Walker Howard is down.
It was a non-contact injury.
He went down, stayed down for a while.
Needed help walking off the field.
Incredibly, with about a minute to go, he tried to check himself back in.
The coaches said, no, you need to stay on the sideline.
Well, it went from that to being evaluated to possibly being out for tonight's game.
Now Scott Walker Howard is done for the year.
They're saying it's an oblique injury.
It was a non-contact injury against rice scheduled to have surgery on Friday.
But do you want to talk about devastating news?
Five star athlete out of Lafayette at Saint Thomas Moore High School goes full circle, comes back home and barely plays three and a half quarters.
And that was years done.
Yeah it's unfortunate.
This is this has the potential to be one of the better stories in college football.
Like you said, Guy played at LSU almost coming back home big time recruit.
And then to go down like that usually when you see non-contact injuries like that on a football field, it's never good.
Most injuries happen because another human being is pushing on you as soon as you go down with the non-contact injury, that just means your body gave out.
So it's an unfortunate way to start the season.
Redshirt freshman Daniel Bill, who ended that bowl game against rice, is now scheduled to take over the starting role.
But as you look at it now, young quarterback, they had a quarterback battle.
So they've worked with other quarterbacks.
Does the onus fall more on the offense to rebound when you realize that it's their quarterback that's gone?
Or would it be possibly be on the defensive side?
Who needs to help pick things up for the cages?
Yeah, everybody's going to point to whoever steps in a quarterback.
They have to elevate their game.
But but yes, it is certainly a lot of the onus goes to the offense and what you do in the running game.
You have to be able to run the football to help a young quarterback.
The offensive line need to step up.
But for me as a defense, I look at the defense.
You have eight of your 11 starters are seniors.
That's a lot of experience on that side of the football.
Defensively, you have to pick it up and maybe where you your goal is to give up no more than 14 points a game.
Maybe now it's 12 points a game.
You have to change your goals based on what your circumstances are right now.
Yeah, unfortunately dealt a very tough hand going into week two of the season.
Head coach Michael Decimal knows his team has to improve after what happened one week ago, and now they have to do it with a new quarterback.
Do you have to be demanding but not demeaning, especially when you guys lose a game they don't want to lose, right.
So you know, the answer is not to go in there and just tear them apart.
They didn't want to lose a game.
So you got to be demanding and you got to have things that you got to fix, and there's got to be some urgency to do it because yeah, there's a lot of things out there that weren't very good.
And I get everybody's, you know, frustration with it.
I mean, certainly everyone in this building has been challenged.
We all have to do our jobs a little bit better.
And it starts with me.
It's a hell of a learning experience and a really bad ones, one that hurts really bad.
But we got a bunch of dudes that care a whole lot, and we got a team that's really together and we're going.
Everyone in this building right now feels terrible about the way that went.
Well, now what do we do about it?
Well, what they're going to do is face Matt veteran McNeese Cowboys tonight at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium.
Remember, Victor, after leaving McNeese and going up to you on Monroe for a while, he was a consultant under Billy Napier and spent some time there at University of Louisiana with the Cajuns talking about quarterbacks.
And our offense then took a year off.
Well, now he's coming back.
The with the win last week snapped a string of four straight season opening losses for the Cowboys.
They had 359 passing yards, 305 rushing yards.
So very balanced for McNeese.
Now they go into Cajun land and Vita's very familiar with the team he's going to be facing.
They have two legit edge rushers and Cam Whitfield and Jordan Lawson.
A couple of years ago when I was still coaching there, I mean, Cam Whitfield took over the whole game against South Alabama, had 4 or 5 sacks, two strips, picked up a ball or returned it for a touchdown.
And, I was really surprised to see he was still playing.
He's played a lot of football there.
So it's that aspect where the coach knows a lot about the Cajuns.
Of course, they know a lot about Mafia coaching style, so they will be in Lafayette.
7:00 kick tonight down there.
The Cowboys going to give them a challenge for sure because we know that the Cajuns are facing some adversity.
Yeah absolutely.
Anytime you're facing adversity as a coach you want to see how your team's going to react to that.
You when you can get in front of your team and talk about what are we going to do, how are we going to respond?
But till the ball's kicked off, you just don't know.
And like I said, it's going to take other people on the team for the Earl to step up.
But this is a tough opponent, good in-state matchup and not the type of matchup you usually want to see when you're transitioning from a quarterback over separated by one hour down I-10.
That's the battle for the Cajun crown.
McNeese and Louisiana tonight at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium.
I don't think they're just simply trying to win the game, running the football and playing great defense anymore.
I think they're still trying to run the football and still playing great defense, but I think they're trying to add some dimensions to them themselves offensively, and they're doing a good job of it.
And that's Major Applewhite.
Of course.
He played his high school football in Catholic high school here in Baton Rouge.
He's now the head coach of South Alabama, has done a very fine job, faces a Tulane team that while he may not be familiar with the team overall, he certainly knows that head coach John Summerall for Tulane was the head coach at Troy.
He faced South Alabama for a couple of years.
He's very familiar with that.
So two coaches that will know each other very well.
South Alabama had a very impressive win one week ago.
More impressive of what Tulane did to northwestern as they now go on the road to mobile.
Yeah.
I there's no question I'm a buyer of what Tulane selling.
I think when you look at what they have in their secondary they have ball hawks.
They have a really good front seven.
They can play at the line of scrimmage.
And I think that's where it changes the discussion about this Tulane team from being a Cinderella team and possibly upsetting people, to being a true contender in the line of scrimmage, when you can get the guys on the offensive and defensive line to compete against the big boys, you have a chance.
So that's why I'm a true believer in this Tulane team.
Couple that with the, veteran quarterback and experience quarterback and Retzlaff, they're going to be a dangerous team.
That being said, South Alabama is a dangerous team.
I think I apply to one of the best offensive minds in college football.
He's got to put his guys in position to make plays.
Yeah.
You know, you mentioned Jake Retzlaff six different quarterback for Tulane since just 2020.
But boy has he helped stabilize things with what he did in just his first game.
Remember getting to campus late against northwestern?
One of the bigger concerns for coach John Summerall was defense.
But well, the offense got out early.
Retzlaff looked good completions.
He had a very long touchdown run.
They were balanced on the offensive side.
They got it done at home.
This is Retzlaff showing us well Scott and I last minute.
Did you know we could run like this up the middle.
And there he goes.
He was good in the passing game.
Didn't have to be great.
But he added so much more in the running game.
But on the emphasis on defense, that's what got the job done.
That's where some of was concern was Scott.
It was five turnovers.
Northwestern out the gate.
Pressure on the quarterback turning the ball over.
That's where Tulane won.
That's absolutely when you win the takeaway battle like that I think we went through the stats last week.
When you're plus five and a takeaway belt, you're going to win 99% of the game.
Something bad really has to go wrong in the game for you to lose a game when you have five takeaways.
I just look at the type of athletes Tulane has on the front seven.
They're long, they're explosive, they can rush the passer and then the secondary being ball disruptors, ball hawks going up and making plays on the football.
That's a dangerous defense.
You talked about buying in on Tulane.
Let me give you a couple of numbers that might impress you here on the road for Tulane.
They've won 15 of the last 17.
Their only losses in Norman against Oklahoma at Army for the American Championship.
That was a year ago.
In the last 43 games the Tulane Green Wave are 33 and ten.
Those 33 wins, that's sixth best, not the American sixth best in the country.
Remember you talked about it with Willie Fritz a couple of weeks ago, and we talked about what what he has set up and what John Summerall is carrying over.
There's a reason why students and athletes are going to Tulane to get the job done.
This is not your grandparents.
Tulane football team that played in the Superdome in front of 11,000 people.
They are 33 and ten in the last 43.
That's top six in the country.
They're performing.
They are winning.
And Summerall has kept that emotion and that drive going.
Yeah, I'm glad you mentioned that.
These two head coaches really started with Coach Fritz.
But Coach Summerall is one of the best young coaches in the country.
Any team would love to have him.
I think when you look at the coaching matters, it's as simple as that.
Coaching matters.
Players want to be coached.
You look at the transfer portal, kids are wanting to flock to Tulane.
They want to play at a good football program and Tulane's beating out, you know, the Big Ten teams, the SEC teams for for these type of athletes.
Tulane's putting guys in the NFL.
Kids want to play where they have a chance to continue their career and be coached well.
And that's happening at Tulane.
You mentioned players going to the NFL.
Well, John Summerall and his Green Wave team tonight against South Alabama will be facing a running back that many people say will be playing in the NFL.
And that will be a focus for the Green Wave defense.
I know can throw well.
When he left Ole Miss, I try to get him to come to Troy.
Another one of my I tell you all the time of my failed recruiting attempts.
I said, tell me about this Kintaro bullet kid.
It's a John.
He's an NFL talent, like he's a real NFL player and the next is coached a lot of NFL back.
So, he's a really good football player.
He's a physical, fast runner.
And, you know, you got to bring it on contact with him.
We're gonna have to gang tack.
We're going to have to get 11 hats.
The football, you know, you can't you can't just think one guy is going to get him down the way.
Is play styles very impressive.
Now Scott talks about establishing the running game.
That's what they will have to do for South Alabama.
Can Tulane stop it.
Retzlaff last week there's a look at his numbers.
Very balanced.
Kentrell Bullock though who was talking about 127 rushing yards and two touchdowns last year.
He rushed for almost 850 yards and eight touchdowns.
This ball game will be broadcast on ESPN plus between the Jaguars and the Green Wave from Tulane.
Let's turn our attention now to the Southern Jaguars.
And very good news for Jalen Woods, the quarterback who took that vicious hit.
And it's been a Mississippi one week ago was knocked out of the ball game.
Taken off the field in an ambulance.
All tests proved negative.
He came through with everything has full motion and is back in Baton Rouge.
Terrence Graves, the head coach of the Jaguars, this week, saying that he'll be day to day concussion protocol.
But the good news is he's doing okay and they hope to see him back on the field sometime soon.
That means Cameron McCoy gets the start at quarterback for the Jackson I who have their home debut.
They will be out on the bluff.
It's always a party out there inside of Mumford Stadium.
And that's where they're actually playing tonight.
When they welcome in Alabama State.
The Jags lead the series all time 29 to 10.
Look at what the Hornets did in the loss to UAB.
It got everybody's attention.
They hung 42 points on UAB with over 500 yards of offense.
Jaguars defense are you paying attention.
That ball game kicks off at 6:00 tonight on the bluff.
Should be a great atmosphere.
And if you want to watch it you can see it.
It'll be broadcast on ESPN plus.
Staying in the Swac the Grambling Tigers are on the road.
They got the big win at Independent Stadium one week ago when they took on Langston, beating them 55 to 7.
Headlines in the under 100 total yards and -32 rushing yards for the game.
Meanwhile, the Tigers rolled up 466 yards of offense later today.
How about this?
They'll be in the horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio, taking on the Buckeyes from Ohio State.
Now, if you want refreshing, listen to what Tiger head coach Mickey Joseph had to say when talking about the matchup with the Buckeyes.
Well, first of all, they think they've got a great band.
We have a great band and we all compete as a band.
But, I'm just joking right now.
We understand what we're getting into.
We understand what's going to happen.
We understand that, it's not balanced and scholarships not balance.
And, what they have is resources like what we have resisted by.
But we know all we all know about playing the game.
And I spoke to the coaches today and said the game are we to be better be team.
And that's and I am clean to me is that we don't have nine people on the field.
We don't have 13 people.
There's clean play within the system and we and we swing, you know, we swing in, we fight every play.
But we know right now they probably going to be the number one team in the country.
It's a great opportunity Scott I love it.
Look it's a paycheck.
Look, I'm giving Grambling an advantage on the band.
I know what I'm saying.
It's for the best.
Now you're number two today.
Your football team might be number one.
Ramblin man is going to put on a show, and you're going to love it up there.
But I love this honesty.
Look, keep it clean.
Let's not have any cheap shots or have any silly penalties.
I need to come back home healthy.
We'll get our paycheck.
You get a win.
But you mentioned it last week.
Go and go.
Enjoy it.
Go enjoy the invite.
Absolutely.
And that's why that's why players play for Coach Joseph.
He's he's so authentic.
Not many coaches can get up there.
And just be honest with you.
We know why we're playing this game.
We know we're playing this game.
But at the same time, it doesn't take away from the experience of telling the kids, just don't look at the scoreboard, just take in the environment, soak it all in.
Not many people get a chance to play in an environment like that, to play against the number one team in the country.
Soak it all in and don't forget it.
Don't worry about the scoreboard as much as you worry about the environment you're in.
It's a 230 kick between Grambling and number one Ohio State.
If you want to watch the game, you can.
It'll be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
How about the Warhawks on you all, Monroe, remember?
Seems like it's been two weeks since they played.
That's because they played that Thursday night game a week ago.
They got the win over Saint Francis.
Not without some issues.
Head coach Brian Vincent was addressing those and not getting one, but two extra points blocked in that ball game.
The Warhawks did show they've got a deep running back room with a well-rounded run game tonight there in Tuscaloosa, the face on an Alabama team reeling after a 14 point week one loss to Florida State on the road.
Bama ran for just 87 yards in that game and got pushed around by the Noles.
Vinson knows they'll be heading into an angry stadium tonight in Tuscaloosa.
The speed and the power of this game Saturday night is going to be good for us.
We need to see this.
We need to be in this fire.
And really see where we're at.
We're going to be in an electric environment.
It's going to be an environment a lot of kids dream of playing in.
To me, it's about us and it's about execution.
You know, one play at a time, really, in all three phases and just going out there and turning it loose and playing football and playing to our standards.
You know, we want to play with the mentality.
We want to play with an edge.
Look, we know what we're up against.
We know this is one of the top five teams in the country.
Good.
You know we're not we're not going to go in there scared I can promise you.
And we're not going to go in there.
Blink.
We know this is a really good opponent that has, you know, a chance in my mind to rebound and still make the playoffs.
And we'll get back to that for a little while for Alabama.
But yes, Alabama is going to be angry.
Hey don't forget you almost always been Alabama before in the past on the football field.
That's why you play the game right.
Alabama leads the all time series.
But remember they beat Nick Saban style when he first got there 21 to 14.
It's a 645 kick tonight between the Warhawks and the tide.
That game will be broadcast on the SEC network.
Yeah.
Coaches write about them in the rankings and still being a ranked team.
But the playoffs?
Yes Alabama fans don't think so.
They're already right.
Are they looking for a new coach?
No.
This is the worst time to play a team.
Like how about all week long they've been yelled at by the media and their coaches.
They want they're looking to play back.
No doubt what we already talked about one in-state matchup.
And that's going to be over in Lafayette between the Cajuns and the Cowboys from McNeese.
How about the other one?
It'll take place in Baton Rouge tonight.
630 Kick in Tiger Stadium, the home opener for LSU, welcoming in the Bulldogs from Louisiana Tech, who got a win one week ago at home against the Lions from southeastern 24 to nothing.
They'll be making the visit to Baton Rouge, two coaches who know each other very well Sonny Cumbie, Brian Kelly, a lot of respect between these two men in the programs as they get set to meet tonight in Baton Rouge.
I think the in-state part is a great point.
Because if you look at our roster and their roster, there's a lot of kids on our team that played up play park ball.
These guys you know, from the moment that they were little kids and they've competed with them in high school, where they competed against them in high school in particular, like the in-state kids.
And so I think from an in-state standpoint, it makes a ton of sense.
I mean, we're able to, to go down there on a Friday afternoon, you know, it's a bus trip for us.
There's a large contingency of fans for us in Baton Rouge.
And so I think in terms of it being in-state, I think it makes a lot of sense.
And, and, you know, anytime you playing in-state game, you know, the intensity of it.
I think the atmosphere is going to be, you know, probably the best that I've ever been a part of.
And so, I think that our kids are excited about that.
We have Tim Forte, who's in the Hall of Fame, you know, on our staff at LA tech.
Joe Sloan obviously coached there.
Blake.
So there's a lot of, you know, crossover here.
There's a lot of respect for Sonny and and the program that he has.
So, we see him, you know, in recruiting and he's at our camps.
And so, you know, from that perspective, I think there's, you know, a great allegiance to the allegiance to the in-state schools.
But on Saturday, we want to we want to whip him.
And so and they want to do the same.
Right.
But but I like, you know, tipping our cap and and saying, you know what?
If we're going to play, you know, a non-power, four conference, let's let's do it from a school in the state of Louisiana.
Scott, I couldn't agree more.
Let's start right there, because, no offense, if you're going to play southwest, central, Missouri State, or you can play Louisiana Tech or Southeastern or Nicholls like I did last year.
I'm all for that.
Like you heard these guys saying her, Sonny Cumbie saying they probably play with a lot of players on LSU team.
LSU teams got elite talent.
Maybe those guys are good, but not great.
Here's your chance to walk into 104,000 seat stadium prime time on a team that just beat Clemson and go give it your shot.
I'd rather see it in-state every time you can go and play outside.
There's there's no question there's no quite even if if the balance of the powers are tilted, it's still what the state of Louisiana wants to see.
And I love that Coach Cumbie brought up that these kids play against a lot of these guys.
And and I know that for an example, four years ago I was training some guys luxuriously played cornerback at Louisiana Tech, a McRoberts and played cornerback, Louisiana Tech.
These guys are both starters in the NFL now.
Fourth round picks.
And we got through our mock combine interviews and we asked them individually, what was your favorite moment from from college football?
And they both said, I really wanted to play at LSU.
They both said that.
So these kids, there's a lot of kids that are going to really enjoy this environment.
They're going to enjoy the game they're playing.
They're gonna enjoy playing against buddies they played against in college or in high school.
So it's going to be a fun time.
And I agree with your point 100%.
Play the in-state schools.
There's more passion rivalry there.
And of course LSU is coming off the big win over Clemson.
And Brian Kelly is very big on this one.
And zero focus in fact in the LSU football facility right now.
And Scott I know you've seen this.
There's always a wall with the schedule.
You notice you only see one team last week it was that top one on the left at Clemson.
They've covered everything up.
Now you've got Louisiana Tech.
He is selling the one and old mentality to the point where they even have everything else blocked off to focus on each and every game.
So not to expect a dip from Louisiana Tech coming off of Clemson and getting ready for Florida.
It's all about that one game, centrally focused, right now.
And what is approaches to keep LSU successful each and every week?
The maturity of a football team is is that you have a nameless and faceless opponent.
In other words, you prepare the same way no matter what, and that's the hard part of this.
This is the hard part, and that is, can I go out there as if this was Clemson or Florida or Alabama?
And they have to come up with the understanding that it's on them to do this.
We can't drive them as coaches.
They've got to drive themselves.
And this group has a lot of veteran guys and a lot of guys that understand that.
That has allowed us to prepare in a much better fashion.
It sounds good saying it.
How to visit to stay focused.
If you're LSU with Florida on deck, it's extremely tough.
And I like the putting up the graphic of a block.
Now all the other noise, but it's tough.
These guys have phones.
They know what the schedule looks like next week.
But but any time you go out there in the field, I think individually it's on you as a player to improve your craft, improve your game, and if you need more motivation.
Dabo Swinney gave you a 65 last week.
So he gave you feeling great.
Go out there and prove him wrong.
That's that's exactly right.
Hey you know tech's going to bring its best effort last time they met 2018 3821 lots of points on the board.
We'll see what the Philips tonight.
It's a 630 kick.
It's a sold out game.
So if you can't go to the stadium and you don't have a ticket, don't worry.
You can watch it on ESPN plus or the SEC Network Plus on TV.
The Lions from southeastern, they were the ones in Ruston one week ago taking on the Bulldogs.
They're still looking for their first points of the season as they lost the ball game 24 to nothing.
Now they're going to be on the road and they're playing Murray State, a team that is also in the FCS.
It should be a big challenge and a way to kind of measure yourself where you are.
For the Lions in Game two, Frank cell phone knows how important these types of games are for his team, especially on the road.
Here's what's good about it this year.
The, Murray State's going to the Missouri Valley, right?
And, that's top conference in FCS.
And the I think they have won AQ last year.
And that's five At-Large bids.
So when you look at a conference putting six teams in the playoffs, it gives you a measuring stick against somebody that you're playing.
But important for us, it's important for the Southland to to not only play these other conferences.
Well we got those games.
You know, we played some last year when well, you know, when those games or when you had a chance to do that and, set to play well.
And that's across the conference.
We talked about this head coaches in our conference being able to go out and schedule teams no matter where they're at.
But we have to win.
Those can't just play well.
We got one.
Scott, remember our preview show?
We talked about that a three point loss last year.
And that could have been the difference.
Getting in the playoffs Murray State in the Missouri Valley Conference a big one if you can get it on the road for the Lions today.
Yeah.
It's just about like I said, improving each taking a one week at a time, taking what you did from from spring ball and training camp, August training camp practices and improving every single week individually.
You do that, you start stacking weeks and second days.
You become the player on the team you want to be.
Should be a big matchup between the Lions and the Murray State and Murray State tonight.
We'll look forward to that one.
It's a kick off at 6:00.
Also kicking off this evening.
The kernels from Nicholls.
They are back home after giving Troy everything they could handle one week ago, but just fell short in the fourth quarter.
It was turnovers in that quick 21.
Nothing burst by Troy that got the win over the Colonels as they fell to one on one.
They are back home tonight intimate.
So they'll be taking on West Georgia.
You see the Wolves held Sanford to under one yard per rush last week.
The Colonels you saw outscored late in that ballgame.
But we saw what they did two weeks ago at home against UW.
This game kicks off at six.
And Thibodaux it will also be broadcast on ESPN plus.
Well they were certainly the feel good story from week one in college football.
The demons from Northwestern State getting that season opening win kicking off the season on a Thursday night in Natchitoches as they got past Alcorn State.
It's my pleasure to welcome and head coach Wayne McCorkle, the head coach of the demons there at Northwestern State.
Coach, it's great to see you.
Congratulations.
How is the, the environment?
Is it still carrying over on a high from from the effort that you had a week ago in that big win?
Yeah.
Thanks, Victor.
It's good.
Good to be with you.
And, yes, it it's still carrying over, but it needs to go away.
We got a pretty big game this week, so it's, everybody around here was obviously thrilled.
And I think the entire city of Natchitoches had a big sigh of relief.
And I think it was as much celebration as it was.
There was also a lot of relief with it to let people know that, you know, northwestern playing football was alive and well.
And, you know, the folks in town on campus are still celebrating, I think.
And, that's been one of the biggest parts this week is to get our guys back on track and focus.
But we do have to go play the Big Ten this week.
And, that is no, no like that.
Yep.
And as a former athlete in playing sports, I get the coach's message.
If you'll give me a couple minutes to look back, I promise we'll move forward.
Like you said you did.
I wanted to ask you, first you back.
First of all, you played on the Thursday night.
And I know what coaches say.
You got 24 hours to celebrate.
Then we've got to move on.
But, coach, you played Thursday night.
It's been a minute since you got the win.
I hope you went more than 24, maybe 48 hours, 60 hours for the guys to really take it all in.
Yeah, we did, and that's the one thing I said to a Friday in the team meeting is, you know, you always talk about the 24 hour rule and you got to move on.
But it was Thursday night and a bit over a thousand day.
So we were going to enjoy this for a little bit longer.
And they were okay with that.
I got a nice a nice cheer from the team when I said that.
So yeah, it was it was a long time coming, and they deserve to have the opportunity to truly enjoy, this win and everything that comes with it.
How has the challenge been now was they now have that win under their belt?
You thought you told them it was coming.
You now have it.
And I know you want to build on it.
I also loved your game comment, coach.
And you said as of Saturday night we have a winning record, more than half of college football because everybody else is going to be on one.
How have you now gotten them to refocus and say, okay, we put the work in.
Now we know what it takes to get a win.
Let's go get another.
What's the swagger been like?
And getting back to work?
Well, the quickest way to get these guys refocused after that one was simply turn them up and look at the University of Minnesota's offensive line.
That'll wake you up in a hurry.
So it's a it's Big Ten football at its finest.
And, you know, it's an opportunity for our kids to go play on a big stage.
And they'll play on the Big Ten Network, play in front of a bigger crowd and and really see who they are.
So I think the opportunity itself, lends itself to getting the guys back in focus, locked in and ready to go, and it helps them put last week behind them.
So we can move on.
I mean, it's a great opportunity.
And, you know, every kid on our roster, you know, probably has a good, healthy chip on their shoulder thinking they should be happy for a player.
I grew up, dreamed of being one, and they're not right now.
So now's your opportunity.
So, you know, go prove yourself.
Go find out.
You know what that level really feels like.
And and go in there and play hard and compete and and you know, I've been a part of a lot of these PF games over my career, FBS games over my career.
And the biggest mistake people make is they say, well, let's just go enjoy the experience and play hard.
Are you gonna win a game?
You know that's what you do if you're not playing to win, don't go, trying to create that mindset.
You know what the odds are.
But, you're not going to win.
Don't play the game.
Love is approach.
God has got his team feeling confident now and they go on the road to take on Minnesota.
That game's about to kick off here in just a couple of minutes.
Oh by the way kickoff expected 58 degrees.
It's supposed to get up to mid 60s by the time the game.
It's just for what it's worth, I was just going to say and it's early in the year.
Yeah.
Nice cool fun out there in Minnesota.
You want to check it out.
You can see it on the Big Ten Network and it starts at 11:00.
Lots of action we're looking forward to.
And we're going to wrap it all up for you Sunday on post notes.
But until then, enjoy all the games today.
