Corporal Frank Woodruff Buckles was 110-years old when he passed away in 2011. He was America’s last surviving World War I veteran. His life’s story from service in World War I France to Japanese capture during World War II are documented by West Michigan photographer David DeJonge in the documentary, “Pershing’s Last Patriot: The Frank Buckles Story.”
