Hi, I'm Darrell Davey, and I'm the head designer and owner of Oaken Hollow Games.
Oaken Hollow Games is a what I call a “gamer.y ” We have a small batches of board games that we make out of Cloquet, Minnesota.
we try to be as open about our process of how we make games, how we go from scratch paper to concept to actual game design so other people around the area can learn how to make board games and, you know, follow their passions in this.
Board games are a way of telling stories.
For a long time, I was really trying to find a way to express myself or bring these stories, but I had a hard time sitting with like a cement thing.
I like these open ended things and letting people play in worlds that I've created.
So board games allows me to give a setting in characters, but not impose my thoughts and ideas of fun and adventure on anybody else.
They get to make these stories and game nights for themselves.
I see the future of Oaken Hollow games continuing to promote the creativity of the community and people who play our games with us and inspire more people to get into making stuff as we go on.
I want to make games that will hit a wide variety of people and play styles, in for all sorts of environments.
Our biggest goal is to get family and friends around the table again, and to form those communities in those game nights that I cherished growing up, and give those out to others.
