It's the oldest radio station in Columbus, and Ohio State University ran the radio station.
And in 1922, they became the sixth educational radio station by getting their experimental broadcasting license.
The letters that are assigned to radio stations, especially back then, pretty random.
So they were WEAO.
And the tagline they assigned to those letters was willing.
Energetic Athletic Ohio, but the radio station really did capture an audience.
We have photos here, but they had Ohio professors come on and give educational lectures.
Music.
There are even like weird dramatic readings that like people really liked at the time.
The first broadcast was then President Thompson of OSU giving a speech.
They also had information about a devastating fire in Columbus and baseball scores.
So WOSU has been giving people information that they want and can learn from for a really long time.
