Is that something that you have to kind of overcome, you know, folks that maybe are too proud to ask for help or like you said earlier, don't think that they necessarily are entitled to it?
- Oh, absolutely.
I've got one that I've considered a mentor and a friend, and a lot of us had that mindset when we first came out, that we want to save this for those that truly deserve it or need it.
And the pure simple fact is we've all given and dedicated our lives to the service of this great nation.
So yes, that definitely is a barrier that we're learning to feel and talk our way through with these veterans and explain to them that it's there for them.
- They've earned this.
This is hard.
- What's the best way to go about that, you know, when you're talking one-on-one with a vet who may be hesitant to ask for help?
- Families.
- Yeah.
Maybe talk to the spouse.
Have the spouse talk some sense into the veteran maybe?
- Or other veterans, you know, the older generation of veterans, I feel like they're more open to hearing from their generation of veterans, you know, And we have a great VSO in the office.
He's a Vietnam War air vet, you know, and he can connect with some of those people, but just really just reiterating that you earned this, you know, You earned the right to have these benefits.
It's no different than what we did to earn our retirement that we're going to receive from the military.
You raised your right hand and this country is obligated to take care of our veterans.
You're not, you know, you can put that pride in front of it, but really you deserve this.
You're entitled to this and we're going to help you get it.
