Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- Right now, the hummingbirds are getting ready or have already started migrati.
So the main hummingbirds that rn around Labor Day weekend are yo.
There's only one species of humd that breeds in Minnesota and Win and that is the ruby-throated h. Those have a wonderfully intriguing migration pathway.
They all work their way south to the Gulf of Mexico.
Wherever along the coast they are, they pig out, and if they get enough muscle mass and body fat, they light out straight over the Gulf of Mexico to the Yucatan Peninsula.
It's a minimum of 500 and some .
Those hummingbirds that reach tf and haven't built up their muscs have to go the long way, all the way around the Gulf and that is a longer journey, but they don't have to fly all night over water.
