Mom, I have nothing to wear!
What, what about this?
This is a nice dress.
- Oh, I totally forgot about that.
Yeah, thanks.
- Okay, so why are you so nervous, anyway?
It's my first day of high school-- I have to look good, I have to fit in, I have to make friends.
It'll be fine, it'll be okay-- just be friendly and open.
You'll make new friends in no time.
Just make sure they don't see your... Yeah, yeah, I know.
Thanks, Mom.
MOM: You're welcome.
(breathes deeply) GIRL: Hey.
MALEEKA: Uh, yeah?
- New girl, right?
Yeah, I'm Maleeka-- it's my first day.
Nice dress.
Thank you.
Hey, come here.
See that new girl right there?
MALEEKA: Uh-huh.
- Wanna go mess with her?
- (stammering): Okay.
GIRL: Let's go.
Hey, loser.
What the heck are you reading, what is that?
- It's just a book.
GIRL: Your clothes are so tacky, what is that?
(book thuds loudly) (sighs) ♪ ADIRA: Stop!
Please, just leave me alone!
Stop!
Please!
Just leave me alone!
I didn't do anything!
(cries out) (whimpering) MALEEKA: Stop!
Stop!
♪ (rustling) ♪ What the heck are you, freak?
Are you okay?
Yeah, thank you so much for saving me.
MALEEKA: No problem.
I'm so sorry I didn't help you the other day.
I was being a coward.
ADIRA: It's okay.
So... You have wings!
Yeah, I guess I do.
I was born with them.
The name's Maleeka, by the way.
I'm Adira.
