(lively music) - Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation invites you to the winter market at Wheeler Historic Farm.
They have a warm indoor space for the public to come and support local growers.
Here to share more is Callista Pearson.
Hi, Callista.
- Hi.
Yeah, starting January 4th, our winter market will be kicking off and it will run through April 12th.
And this is a great opportunity for people to connect with local growers and bakers.
Foods you'll find there would be microgreens, tomatoes, potatoes, there's squash still.
And of course there's the dairy and there's chicken meat and pork and beef.
So there's a lot of local people that have produce available for you.
- Yeah, that's really fun.
You know, people think of farmer's markets in the winter, especially here in Utah where we have such a cold winter.
But I love that you're doing an indoor market so people can come prepared to be a little more comfortable as they wander around and there's still so much food to be bought.
- There's still so much food and if you're one of those people, you're like, "I don't really want potatoes or whatever," you just want baked goods, there's tons of different baked goods.
There's hummus, honey, all these different local products that people make here that are just absolutely delicious.
- Yeah, and those microgreens like really, you know, healthy produce to be had.
And you have artisans there as well?
- Yes, there'll be stuff you can buy for gifts, which is great because, you know, you never know when you need to stop by, pick up something and take to a party or give to somebody for a gift.
- Plus, it's just nice to get out to the farm in the winter.
- Yeah, going to Wheeler Farm in the wintertime is so different than going in the spring and the summer.
- [Laura] Tell us about it.
- But it's still is just a little bit, you know, it's still just fun 'cause the horses are there, the animals are still there so you can go visit them after you go get something in the Outdoor Education Center where the farmer's market's being held.
- Oh that's great.
And you have some food trucks this year?
- Yes, there'll be several food trucks out in the parking lot and so they usually rotate which kinds that are there.
So there's usually a different option every weekend.
- Oh, that's great.
And, you know, it's free for everyone to come in and, all right, well-- - It's free.
- That's amazing, thank you so much for sharing this with our viewers.
