Native American Symbol

Clip: Season 3 Episode 1 | 1m 45s

Native groups around the world, prior to the Nazis, used a symbol similar to the swastika.

Going back thousands of years this symbol - similar to the swastika - carried very positive connotations before the rise of the Third Reich in Germany. It was a symbol of life pointing to the four directions and it was very popular. The Director of the Logan Museum of Anthropology, Bill Green, explains the symbolism used on Native American basketry.
