Highlighting Cecile Vashaw, composer and founder of the Toledo Youth Orchestra.

After graduating from the Toledo Conservatory of Music and New York University, Cecile Vashaw began her storied career as concertmaster of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and leader of the Toledo Public Schools' string program. She founded the Toledo Youth Orchestra in 1950, and directed it for 15 years until her obligations as director of the entire TPS music program forced her to step away.
