This is Jeffrey, captain of the David B vessel.
Jeffrey, can you tell me a little bit about the evolution of this magnificent ship?
So it was built in 1929 to work in the fishing industry, as a tender for Bristol Bay, Alaska.
And it spent from 29 to 1950 doing that when it wasn't needed anymore.
We acquired it in 1998 and spent eight years restoring it the first time around.
And at that point we set it up the way it had been when we got it; with the pilothouse back aft and a big open deck out here forwards and all the passenger accommodations that we have now, the four staterooms.
And then we decided after running it for a few years, that we really wanted more inside space for passengers to be comfortable and more upper deck space for them to be able to be up, watching wildlife and a much safer bridge arrangement up here where we can see out the windows and see what's in front of us.
We, added on all this new structure up here, and, then in, 2020, we added the covered area over the back deck as well.
And so this has been the greatest project I've ever done.
It was so amazing.
Well, thank you so much for restoring this and making it more accessible for folks and enjoyable for folks.
This has been an experience I will never forget.
Thank you for having me.
I'm Angela.
Thanks for exploring.
I'll see you.
