For the first time in more than half a century, the United States reinstated formal diplomatic relations with Cuba. Remittances will be dramatically increased and the use of debit and credit cards from U.S. banks in Cuba will now be allowed. The president is also asking Secretary of State John Kerry to review Cuba’s status as a terrorist state and plans on re-opening embassies on the island.
