One was with HIV when we realized bloodborne pathogs is a major problem and we d to control them and protect patients and staff.
The second one was Covid-19 during the shutdown in 202r Shrieve added air purifiero her practice had a negative pressure room built and now high speed suction units ae used in every room and positioned in front of a patient's mouth.
To suction aerosols and droplets from the office le gloves.
In the 80s, no dentist wore gloves until the HIV rise.
These are major changes.
The personal protective equipment changed as well.
Staff now wear disposable s and caps as well and 95 mas in addition to their shiels and goggles, Dr Sharifi sas there's also been an incree in oral health problems ine last year and a half.
Normal hygiene routine and checkups and dental care hs been postponed.
There is also studies aboue masks and we call it the mk mouth.
We have dry mouth because f that.
The dentist says there is a connection between oral heh and overall health and strs the importance of taking ce of your teeth for PBS39.
