Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- [Katie Schmitz] So today we are having a garden blessing and kind of a kickoff for our new program.
Giinawiin Giginitaawigi'gomin, or Together We Grow.
It's a youth gardening program for middle schoolers and high schoolers in the community.
They're going to be getting their hands dirty, learning lots of skills in the garden, making stuff that we're going to sell at farmer's markets and doing a lot of field trips and learning from different indigenous food producers and harvesters and cultural knowledge holders in the community.
One of our philosophies at AICHO is just, you know, we wanna, we aim to restore connection to culture as a path to health and healing.
We have about 17 youth signed up.
We started a couple weeks ago and we've had between 10 and 15 participating so far.
It's kind of a culmination of work we've been doing for the last five years or so, and it is really exciting that we're gonna be, that we're able to kind of open it up to the broader community.
