PBS Wins Two TCA Awards

The Television Critics Association announced the 2011 TCA Awards winners on Saturday, August 6, in Beverly Hills. PBS was honored in two of the 12 categories.

PBS congratulates MASTERPIECE MYSTERY! “Sherlock” for winning in the category “Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries and Specials.” MASTERPIECE CLASSIC “Downton Abbey” was a nominee in the same category.

Also honored was SESAME STREET, which won in the category “Outstanding Achievement in Youth Programming.”

Season 42 of SESAME STREET premieres September 26, 2011 on PBS with a focus on a STEM curriculum, an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

“Downton Abbey” returns to PBS with seven all-new episodes beginning Sunday, January 8, 2012. The new season resumes its story of love and intrigue at an English country estate, now mobilized for the trauma of war.

“Sherlock” returns in May 2012. The series offers a contemporary version of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes.
