PBS KIDS is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children through curriculum-based media, using new and traditional platforms to support children in their acquisition of knowledge and critical thinking skills while empowering their imagination and curiosity of the world. 

Providing the highest-quality programming and learning environment for children, PBS’ children’s media invites kids on a journey to explore the world around them with non-violent, age-appropriate content that offers positive role models for children to learn from and grow with. 

The year 2011 marked 12 Daytime Emmy Awards for PBS KIDS series, the 14th consecutive year that PBS earned more Daytime Emmy awards for its children’s programming than any other broadcast or cable network.

According to Nielsen, in October 2011, PBS had six of the top 10 programs among mothers of young children, including SUPER WHY!, SESAME STREET, CURIOUS GEORGE, DINOSAUR TRAIN, THE CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT THAT!, and others.

PBSKIDS.org is ranked America’s No. 1 kids video site for free streamed videos based on the number of videos viewed. According to comScore Video Metrix, in November 2011, kids spent an average of 52 minutes watching videos on PBSKIDS.org/video, 21 minutes longer than the monthly average for all kids sites, with more than 98 million video streams for the month across the PBS KIDS family of players.
