Curator's Note:

Get an inside look at the late Daniel Catán’s acclaimed adaptation of the Oscar-winning film and learn why he was considered one of the foremost composers in contemporary opera. This exhibit features backstage footage, a look at one of the early production meetings, photos from rehearsals and the original stage production, and an interview with Catán about creating the opera, his last completed work before his untimely death.

Composer Daniel Catán speaks to Brian Lauritzen about his fourth opera, Il Postino, which has its world premiere at LA Opera, the poetry of Pablo Neruda, and why he makes his home in Los Angeles. Il Postino from LA Opera starring Placido Domingo airs on Friday, November 25 at 9 p.m. ET, as part of the PBS Arts Fall Festival.
