Laughing Game

During the frigid winter months when there is no sunlight, people gather indoors to sing, dance and play games. The rules of this laughing game are simple. Opponents laugh while the feather is airborne. When the feather touches the ground, laughter stops and the stare?down begins. Laugh out of order or smile during the stare?down and you are eliminated.

This is a video clip from the documentary film Games of the North: Playing for Survival from producer/director Jonathon Stanton of Starseed Media, Inc. in association with the Alaska Native Heritage Center and executive producer Steven Wounded Deer Alvarez (Mescalero Apache/Yaqui/Upper Tanana Athabascan).
