Rebuilding The Gulf Coast
Hurricane Katrina, followed by a weaker but still damaging Hurricane Rita, devastated a wide swath of the southern Gulf Coast of the United States in late August 2005. Now, officials in New Orleans and other damaged places must begin the process of rebuilding.

Gustav Evacuees Return Home; Bush Tours Hard-hit Areas

Police direct returning New Orleans residents; AP photoThe 2 million evacuees who fled the threat of Hurricane Gustav jammed roads Wednesday as many tried to return home to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. President Bush also headed to the city to survey the damage.
