A Jailmate’s Recantation

Johnny Webb testified at the trial that in prison Willingham confessed to him that he had set the fire. Eight years later in 2000, Webb filed this motion to recant. He’s since withdrawn the motion. He tells FRONTLINE that he doesn’t remember any of it.

You can read Willingham’s thoughts on Webb in one of his letters to Elizabeth Gilbert.
