**UPDATED** Arlington, VA; September 29, 2023 — The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the winners of the 44th News and Documentary Emmy® Awards in two individual ceremonies September 27th and 28th live at the Palladium Times Square. PBS won three total awards for FRONTLINE and POV (bolded below). Lois Vossen, Executive Producer of INDEPENDENT LENS, was honored with an induction into the SILVER CIRCLE, gained through her enduring contribution to the television and broadcasting community.
PBS received 26 total nominations this year, including a nomination in Outstanding Nature Documentary for THE GREEN PLANET and a nomination in Best Documentary for FRONTLINE’s “Putin's Attack on Ukraine: Documenting War Crimes.”
