Arlington, VA; November 10, 2025 — The Critics Choice Association (CCA) announced the winners of the 10th Annual Critics Choice Documentary Awards (CCDA), celebrating the year’s outstanding achievements in documentary filmmaking and non-fiction television across theatrical, TV, and major digital platforms.
THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION received the “Best Historical Documentary” award, in a tie with Hurricane Katrina: Race Against Time (National Geographic).
In addition to the evening’s winners, filmmaker Ken Burns received the 2025 Critics Choice Impact Award, presented by Christine Baranski at a gala event held Sunday, November 9, 2025, at The Edison Ballroom in Manhattan.
Premiering Sunday, November 16, THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt, is a landmark six-part documentary series exploring how America’s founding reshaped the world, advanced civil liberties and human rights, and raised questions that continue to resonate today.
