About the Episode

The first breath of Autumn is in the air. Fred (Cliff Parisi) and Cyril (Zephryn Taitte) harvest marrows in the allotment, sorting donations for the Harvest Festival.

On the streets of Poplar, an ice cream van comes to a flying stop outside the maternity home. Heavily pregnant, Tina (Charlotte Beaumont) thinks she’s in labor but is only experiencing Braxton Hicks and feels foolish. Her husband, Tony (Steffan Rizzi) lives on the same street as his four brothers who banter with him over the false alarm. Later, Tina notices Tony is bleeding from his nipple and insists he gets it checked out.

That evening Trixie attends an AA meeting and as she speaks a loud roar interrupts the meeting. Next door, a women’s wrestling match is underway and the referee rushes in looking for a doctor after a headlock goes wrong — Trixie volunteers as a nurse. Later, she drives a concussed Gwen (Emma Symmonds) and her son home in their van and encourages her to get checked out by a doctor.

Dr. Turner (Stephen McGann) is shocked by the unexpected news that the maternity home will not have its license renewed and Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter) calls a team meeting to discuss the implications.

Geoffrey (Christopher Harper) surprises Sister Veronica (Rebecca Gethings) at the Christian retreat and they take tea together to discuss her situation.

Meanwhile, Rosalind (Natalie Quarry) is late with her period but snaps when Joyce (Renee Bailey) asks if she’s ok.
