It's just 12 months since the launch of this ambitious seven-year project, traveling from the African savannah to the American west, the Amazon and southeast Asia to the Arctic, and the changes we’ve seen are significant.

Season 2 captures this change; witnessing the devasting effects of the ongoing drought in Kenya on communities and wildlife, revealing a cheap and scalable solution to the ongoing elephant/human conflict; discovering cutting edge scientific techniques that offer a ray of hope for the world’s coral reefs; an intimate encounter with Brazil’s top predator, the jaguar; understanding the power of biodiversity in the fight against climate change by penetrating deep into the Cambodian jungle to release one of the world’s rarest crocodiles; trekking across the frozen wilderness of the remote northwest coast of Greenland to track down ancient musk oxen whose existence is threatened by an unstable Arctic.

In this series Dr. M. Sanjayan hosts from Australia. Though not one of our six vulnerable ecosystems, Australia is a country that tells us most about the reality of climate change, both in terms of its devastating effects and the potential to bring about positive change. This climate emergency has brought in a new government committed to tackling it and it’s now reflecting the country’s shifting priorities. Some experts believe that what Australians are dealing with today, the rest of the world will be dealing with in 5 to 10 years’ time.
