Julissa Reynoso

On International Women's Day 2021, President Biden established the Gender Policy Council to advance gender equity and equality in both domestic and foreign policy development and implementation. The GPC works in coordination with the other White House policy councils—including the Domestic Policy Council, National Security Council, and National Economic Council—and across all federal agencies to instill a strategic, whole-of-government approach to gender equality and gender equity. Julissa Reynoso is one of the Co-Chairs of the Gender Policy Council, as well as the U.S. Ambassador to Spain and Andorra and the Chief of Staff to First Lady Jill Biden. During the Obama administration, Reynoso served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs and then as U.S. Ambassador to Uruguay.
