Yeah.
- You here for the grand reveal?
I am.
I am.
Oh, the fast and Furious charger one lucky kid man.
I'm sure he deserves it.
Authority?
Yeah.
Well I can't wait to see his face though.
That's, it's gonna knock his socks off, that's for sure.

For some they end up here.

- In this episode, we start working on restoring a 1970 charger, giving it a 1200 horsepower engine, which is being revealed as a birthday surprise.
This car apparently sat out in a field for, since the early nineties, so you know, it's been outside exposed to the weather for quite a bit.
But I'll walk you around the car, we'll talk about what we're gonna do and of course some of the stuff we find as we start to tear them down further apart.
As you can see, we've got it on the rotisserie.
We did the mounts on the outside of the rockers so that we can get fully up that floor.
We were really, after the shell, we were, we were building a recreation of the fast and furious car.
This is a 70 charger and we're doing this is gonna have a 1200 horse blown hemi in it.
So we're tying everything in.
This will all be under the console in here and the idea is to make it a very, very strong cockpit for whoever's driving this thing because if it ever gets, gets away on them, it's gonna be a mess.
So you want, you want the customer to walk away just sort of still doing mock up in here.
- Yeah.
I want you to lock it up in the center.
Yeah.
So I was gonna - Ask you about this too, whether it looks like it might be pulling this down or not or it's not terrible.
There's quite a bit of flex there.
So I wonder if we pull this cord, if I just go right into there or add tabs off - The backside of that maybe.
Yeah, we can anchor it forward, get, get some pressure on it and then we can put tabs on the back.
- Yeah, the got a, the front - End down - Whenever you're ready.
Bolted on, right?
Yeah, go - Twist.
Might be a couple things in the - Wood.
The wiper piece here, down.
That's it.
That's all that's left of the - Original truck.
There will never be enough tire under this car for it to get traction.
We've gotta, we're gonna have to detune it to eight or 900 horsepower just so it's streetable.
- She is a little wobbly.
- Hey Mike.
Mike's favorite.
Hey, hey, hey.
Going on.
Hey.
Film crew in.
Yeah, well we were, we were monkeying around with some rims and stuff we had here just to get a feel for the, how it would fill up the wheel.
Well, so these are a 3 35, which is pretty wide and it's not gonna matter because there's so much horse power that's going in this car than, you know, it doesn't matter what you put under the back and it's gonna scorch 'em right off.
As you can see, we've already done the interior structure with all the roll cage.
It also has a tube chassis in the shop here.
We make our own rear ends and stuff.
So it has a, a Fab nine rear end, which is a angular differential housing with a nine inch Ford pod in it.
It's gonna have a Remic five speed and they hemi in it.
So, and we've, we do all our own brakes and everything, so we do all of our own front A arms, et cetera.
So we add the willwood braking kits to it.
So it's all top-notch stuff on this car.
But I dunno if you recall what this looked like when it came in.
She looks a little better down.
What are you up to there, Mike?
What are you doing on the car?
Well, we got the front - Bumper here, so with all the tube chassis going through the whole entire car, right.
So trying to adapt factory brackets onto, onto a tube frame we created here.
So just trying to keep it symmetrical and made the new with the old and yeah, but it's, it's kind of crazy.
This whole front bumper and grill section is the whole front end of the car and it ties in, it lines up with defenders and everything so yeah, you know, if you're off an eighth of an inch, the whole car is gonna be twisted.
So cocked.
Yeah, measure three times cut ones kind of thing.
So - Yeah, - It's coming together though.
And everything on the front end here has been recreated from factory two just out of solid steel.
- Right.
- So we can - Tap into it and mount this.
So what's gonna happen on this is the car's gonna be gloss black and instead of stainless or chrome trim, it's all gonna be a satin block.
So it's gonna, what do they call it?
Murdered out.
Murdered out out.
They call it murdered out.
Yeah.
So that's, that's, that's what we're gonna do with this one.
It'll suit the car and the guy that we're doing this for, he, he likes everything a certain way, you know, and - He's getting it.
- He's getting it.
We got a truck on the other side we're doing for him as well, which we will sort of follow along as we go to it's chief chassis.
It's got what we call Lambo fenders on the back, massive tires on it and it's gonna have an LS with a supercharger.
It'll be, I'm gonna say what 900 horse probably, you know, so - This one will be - 1,012 hundred roughly on this.
That'd be a good drag race.
Just, just a lot heavier too though.
Yeah.
Next up is to, you know, get the fun mocked up because we couldn't get at it when it was on the rotisserie and you know, to do a little bit more sanding and start getting paint on it just changes the whole thing, right?
So - This is the messy stuff.
This is the stuff that the wife doesn't like walk in the house.
She refers to me as pig pen, you know, after I've been doing this all day.
This is where you really have to pay attention to what you're doing.
Trying to get all these lines nice and crisp and straight.
- Just fitting up this front bumper here.
Got all the custom bumper mounts all made up here.
Now we use the factory kind of wishbone mounts and matched it to the tube chassis there.
So trying to fit all the gaps, getting 'em all nice and progress.
So this bumper being super heavy and made outta solid steel and you know, quality metals back in the day, you want to have a strong bracket.
The other good thing about this bracket is kind of got a factory crumple zone in it.
So if you do get in an accident, it'll kind of spread itself apart as opposed to transferring all the, all the pressure through the frame rails.
So should hold up to the horsepower it's gonna have, but it will twist a bit, especially with the body lines here lining up with the fenders.
We're gonna put a rubber gasket in here that it comes with from factory too, so that'll prevent any paint on paint.
Looking like a charger again though, - Clean up here.
It's going in for paint be first thing tomorrow morning.
So tomorrow, tomorrow will be - A little fine tuning on the last sand.
Couple little low spots.
We're just trying to get, I put some guide coat on it so the guide coat comes out in black so when you have a low spot you can basically see where it is.
So it's just a little bit of, a little bit of fine tuning and it's gonna be a black car so it's gotta be it.
It's gotta be straightened, it's gotta be leveled so you get - The, the shell all painted up and so we can start doing some assembly on that.
Some wiring and running brake lines and fuel lines and getting some interior stuff done and dash work finished up and, and then all this accessory stuff is I gonna call it can be done after the fact and you know, put back together and final assembly and get it all polished up.
Loaded up a bucket of black and threw it at it there yesterday afternoon.
Yeah, I saw it right for a charger.
I guess let's let you be the judge of that.
There's multiple different types of black variants that you can, you can buy.
It's, this one is a blue black, so it, it's really, it's like a midnight black.
There's a lot of other manufacturers that go and they, you know, they have black cars, black trucks, what have you, but the toners that they put in them can drastically change the, the look of the color when you put two different types side by side.
For example, Ford, their, their black has a lot of earth tone toners in it.
Less like yellows and, and and browns and like rusts.
It's like reds and things.
And if you were to take that color and put it but it up against this color here, one would look brown and one would look black.
There's a lot of people don't think so.
You know black is black is black.
Well not the case when you're in this industry.
Missing - I, - Yeah, well if I put a tack on so it'll stay there.
I can.
Trying to get our suspension all together here.
Got Mike over there making up some, some mounting tabs and brackets for foil overs and control arms and just - Working on some brackets for some suspension.
Suspension mounts.
Hard to say with my list.
I know we just got the plasma machine up and running so just trying to dial in the cutting head and figure out the program.
So we're just mucking around with some tracing paper here and we need to make some shock mounts for the Dodge Charger.
So I'm gonna add a mounting hole here.
This'll grab both frame rails and then we'll be able to mount our adjustable coil over right through here and save us time cutting this out by hand.
Make some progress on the Dodge Charger here.
Just got our new seats in, built some custom tracks for it.
Got some wheels mocked up and she's coming together bit by bit.
A little bit of monkeying around.
We had to do, 'cause the custom floors that we did inside the car with all the roll cage made it narrower so we had to narrow these up but everything's functioning as it should.
You're able to grab your recliner the way that the seats in the roll cage kind of match each other.
So, so far so good.
Dave, when he did the roll cage, he actually used these seats as mock-up and he followed the contour so when you're getting in and out, you're not hitting into this roll bar here and they move forward and back without any interference.
Yeah, so these are the actual wheels that are gonna be going on in the car.
We just got 'em mounted and balanced.
So now that we got them in there, we can pull some measurements to cut our rear end and then we can start installing our axles and whatnot.
And tomorrow we should be able to mount all the fenders and even get our front rims and tires on and make sure the width there is all good and throw some shocks in it.
I guess tomorrow was kind of our tentative deadline so we're trying to push for that.
But they know that they're not gonna have a running driving car but at least they're building this for their son for his birthday so at least the kid will be able to sit in it.
Well he's not a kid, he's 30 years old but at least he'll be able to sit in the car and kind of see the whole process from there on out to when it's done.
I think that's a little bit better than just hopping in the car and driving it away.
Kind of seeing the whole process of it and kind of being a part of it too.
Right.
We still have a whole custom stereo to put in it gotta paint the whole UND side with our dominator spray and wire up the whole motor.
So there's a lot to do and I don't know if we can get that done in five days.
You're here for the grand reveal?
I am, I am.
Oh the fast and furious charger.
One lucky kid man.
I'm sure he deserves it though, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I can't wait to see his face though.
That's gonna knock his socks off, that's for sure.
The - Son, he figures he thinks that they're coming to see about dad's build.
He knows nothing about what's behind the curtain.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
So yeah, it's gonna be quite the - Shocker accident when you guys come in.
I'll wait until they start singing happy birthday or something then I see people.
I'm getting there.
It's gonna five minutes or something.
Hey - Go ahead.
I'll go in the back.
- Alright buddy.
- Back of the bus.
You're - In the back of the bus.
Oh now you said your sister wants an Eleanor.
- Well there's one here.
Oh yeah, I know.
Yeah we were just filming the Bronco.
That's, that's why I got the mic on.
- I was looking at Max 'cause he would know better.
- The answer to that is yes.
Oh we're working on all kinds of stuff.
Plugging around - Lots of toes to do - This is your truck okay?
Are you?
Yeah.
So we got it all.
I'm - Not driving that home.
- No, no, not today.
Oh I had this, I had this real ballbuster guy had me working on this car continually.
Really?
Oh yeah.
Oh.
So it's in the next shop.
- Oh, let's go see what that is.
- Do you wanna see what it is?
- Yeah.
What?
- What?
How's birthday Pat?
It's yours.
Yeah, we've been working.
Your dad is really?
-That's awesome That's the best.
No tears here.
We've been working away on this thing forever.
You like it, eh?
That's perfect.
Yeah, we still got a ways to go but it's coming.
Has been - Keeping it quiet.
Yeah.
23 months.
- We ended up a little background for you.
We ended up, I dunno if you watch YouTube at all, but there's a guy named Dennis Collins.
Yep.
Yeah.
So we bought the car from Dennis Collins and it was a wreck field car.
Brought it up here Dave and the guys made a full tube chassis for it.
Blown Hemi rn.
We're just getting down to all the details stuff now the, the guys are working on the dash and all the rest of it, but it's got one off custom rims for you.
We got Willwood brakes for it.
I mean it's just this thing's got all the best stuff on it so you can thank him.
Yeah, so I've got dual fuel injection for the top with the hat so it looks like the original car.
So we gotta put all that in Next we gotta run the headers in.
So, but you can see all the tubing comes up through the front.
Dave's been working on putting the shots and stuff in it.
We threw a steering wheel in here so you could get a feel for what it's like sitting in it.
If you want to jump in.
Anne Marie picked out a, a billet one, so I'm just waiting for that to come in.
Oh, look at you.
You fit good in there.
Hey.
Yeah, so we did all, you can see it's even got custom pedals.
That's it.
Oh, here we go.
Nice cruising.
Pretty comfortable.
That head - Is comfortable too.
All lot.
That comfortable.
This surprises two and a half years in the making.
Yeah, it all stems from Gary doing a Coke cooler.
- Yeah.
Yeah.
I did a Coke cooler for his garage and next thing you know, - We started that project.
Yeah.
And then we started this, right?
Yeah, exactly.
For my son's 30th birthday.
- Yep.
I didn't have an idea that it, if it ever happened, it would be to this extent.
And I love that car.
This is the car I've wanted since I was a little boy.
Fast in the furious one at the end of the movie.
This came outta the garage and that was it.
I have liked no car since I saw that the first time.
That is perfect.
Dream - Come true.
Wow.
This is gorgeous.
It's been a long time coming and we're very excited that we could unveil the first 30th birthday.
We knew he'd be like over the moon.
So it's, it's really exciting.
Little thing is a lot of work tomorrow.
Geez.
Snowmobiles, boats, cars.
What all these choices you have to, to ride in now.
This takes a lot of time.
I don't know outta this world.
- Very nice.
I didn't think I'd ever have the only guy I know in Canada that's got one.
You don't have anything.
Yeah, I don't think there's any up here.
Yeah, good.
Yep.
And the, all the detail that went into this one's way over the top, like with the power that's in it, that's why we went with the crazy chassis in it and stuff, you know?
So, you know, get yourself into trouble.
- Handle the light like any pictures.
Un radical.
I guess I could now because he's not on.
Wow.
So at four o'clock every day, Dave would love for you to come and help him finish it in the next two months.
Yeah.
That's bring - Taxes that can be arranged.
Yeah.
I knew when you said, when we walked through the door of the cottage, Christie and I and you went, shh, come here, come here, come here.
And we're going, why you go, Gary's trying to plan the unveiling for dad's truck.
And then Wendy comes in and the volume didn't change and then dad walked in and you went, oh, it's the unveiling about your truck.
And I'm going, dad, what whatcha talking about?
That's weird.
Well, he knew about - That's my car and now didn't get the Corvette.
What?
Corvette.
Oh, he thought he was gonna bet did the other cor he seen the other Corvette.
Right.
And then he thought I ruined, ruined it dad, because I said, you don't get a cor Cort that I'd like a Corvette.
Because he goes, yeah, I love that Corvette.
So I goes, yeah, he's gonna get a Corvette.
I'm already going.
This a big charger, but he doesn't know.
Right.
- Yesterday morning I was talking to dad about his truck and I said, you're gonna do a big burnout in the parking lot.
He goes, they'll kill us.
I go, what'll kill us?
And he, who's they?
He goes, oh, the truck.
It's got no a, b, s or or trash control.
And I'm going, wait a minute, something's up.
I have daydreamed, I have gone to bed and dreamt of this car.
- Yep.
That's so true.
- You and I reveal.
I thought it was great.
He, mack sent us a, a really nice email thanking us for, he's just thrilled.
He can hardly wait obviously until it's ready to go on the road.
But we're just gonna keep at it between now and September and and September.
We should have her on the road.
So we're hoping to get it back over the winter.
'cause we were hoping to do some car shows with it in March.
That's the plan.
And we'll tweak a little, a little bit more of it before, before it goes on that circuit.
But yeah, he was thrilled, absolutely thrilled.
Bumpers - And, wait, wait, hold that, hold that, hold that, hold that hold that, hold.
That.
