I gotta get made up.
- I think it's been three, four years waiting to get the thing in the road.
So pretty excited about it.
- Just a little bit of fit and finish.
And off she goes.
- Every car has a story.
Three car, like the best thing ever.
For some they end up here.
These are just some of the stories about those who collected restore vehicles, giving them a renewed lease on life so that their stories can be told right here on restoration.

- In this episode, we showcase the modifications done to a first generation Ford Bronco, giving it a bit more power and some more modern conveniences.
Johnny is broco with a V six with twin turbos on it and we inherited this from two other shops, so it was a nightmare, but it's looks really nice now.
Now we're getting down to Brad's getting down to the short, getting down to the, - On it.
Yeah.
- Yeah.
He's just making up the, this is another one with basically no room left you, no radiator, AC unit air to air for the turbos.
And you see the turbos are down here, but it's all the piping that's gotta work around the steering all in the front here.
This is where all the, all the headaches are.
So we're getting there.
And when we got this, it was like a spaghetti.
- Yeah, - There was wires everywhere and the other shops had thrown their hands up at it.
There was 450 codes in that nice little module unit there.
So we had to get everything cleared out and then delete some stuff.
'cause it's technically, it's from a Ford Expedition and a lot of the electronics on the expedition you don't need for this.
So it was a real battle getting it to work.
Nobody could get the thing to fire.
So anyway, a lot of effort.
It, it now fires and runs so - You tidy up a couple of things and then yeah, throw some cool in it probably tomorrow.
Yeah, some cool in it, be - Able to fire it up, people's pipes folded up and cool and all reality.
It'd be kind of cool just to rip it up and down the road maybe.
- Sure.
Just make sure - Something like that - Handling and everything too on it.
Right?
- Yeah.
- And you got the rest of the straps in for the suspension travel, so yeah.
Awesome.
- Just getting down to the, like you said, the short strokes.
It's too bad.
It's a - Really nice blue, but it's got dust on it from being back here.
Yeah, in here you can see it's got, you know, it's got the distressed leather look, aftermarket tilt column and again it's got the modern transmission in it, bill pedals and stuff like that.
So air conditioning, it's all, it's all there.
So - We got her - Getting a headlight harness together here.
Well headlights and turn signals and stuff.
It'll look much better when we're done, I promise.
- Yeah, it's been a interesting couple of days.
And anyway, this is coming along pretty good.
My plan today, 'cause the weather wasn't gonna be so nice, was to mount some seatbelt buckles and get the passenger seat in, but then I couldn't get the passenger door open all morning, so I fought with that.
I'm like, seriously?
Like, anyway, such is life.
Yeah.
So this is what we're doing.
So I think we're coming down to the, the finishing strokes on this got two AC lines I gotta get made up.
Few odds and ends.
Emergency break customer wants some exhaust work done, which isn't gonna really hold it here.
I mean, if he wants to take it, he can take it and bring it back.
So it's, it's been a long drive, but there's light at the end of the tunnel.
If somebody was to come and say, I got 71 Bronco, I would like to do an eco boosto swap, I'd say a hundred percent we can, we can absolutely do it.
Let's do it because there's stuff I would do differently now.
I kind of know the process at, at the beginning of it, it's like, oh my god, like what are we doing?
But it's, it's not, I mean, it is a cool little toy and if somebody were to say, Hey, you know, you wanna do another one, I'd go, - Yeah, - See you spend a whole day doing what would appear to be next to nothing.
But it's like those little finishing touches, tying up wiring, you know, drilling holes for seat belts and, and thinking going, okay, where should the seat belt mount go?
Where's the best place gonna be?
Because they weren't there.
Yeah, it's all these little, if you could time lapse it, you kind of go, oh, okay.
Like, that didn't take that long, but it's like, really had a day doing this.
Yeah, yeah.
And the customer's been really cool.
He's been in a couple of times and he's like, he's stoked ob he's obviously anxious, but he's, he's stoked with the progress and where we're at with it.
So yeah, like to see a smile on the customer's face, that's the next thing we gotta do.
We, we can do is we'll throw the hood on, mount some washer nozzles and kind of get that all hooked up.
It's just the, the plummet, like the, the lines that I have to mount to the hood.
But other than that, it's all wired up and ready to go.
So put the hood on and running boards are on, it's, if he wants running boards, he can have running boards and if he doesn't want running boards, you just hit the button and away they go.
Got the cooling system sorted out, all the intercooler pipings on and together.
Took it for a quick spin there yesterday or the day before, goes along pretty good.
So yeah, I gotta work through some lighting, try and, because it's still got the new, new technology on the inside, so I'm gonna just basically bypass that and make my own harness and for the headlights and brake lights.
And there's a light at the end of the tunnel, that's for sure.
I think the customer wants to pick it up on his pickup date is Tuesday or Wednesday next week.
So just waiting for a, a different AC condenser.
It's not gonna work with the one that's in there and he, he wants ac so other than that, just a little bit of - Fit and finish and off she goes.
This is it.
- So what is the second?
This is a 1971 Ford Bronco 3.5 liter twin Turbo eco boost swap.
It's, it's been a ride that's for sure.
It's been, it's it's a cool little truck though.
Looks fairly vintage on the inside, but it's very modern on the outside.
Four wheel drive all works.
Everything is, you can have a lot of fun with it, that's for sure.
Definitely too much power for, for what it is.
But said nobody ever, I mean this is a mint truck, so it would've been a good candidate for, you know, a restoration and just have it as a seven one bronco.
But the, the power and the functionality of something that's more modern with the fuel injection kind of com combine that drivability, I was gonna say fuel economy, nobody a hot rod for fuel economy, let's be honest.
And it's just kind of a cool thing.
Like if you saw it in a parking lot, you'd be like, oh, that's a nice truck.
And then you open up the hood and you're like, oh wow.
Like that's a really different cool truck.
I've never seen something swapped like this before, especially with a three five Eco-boost.
So it's definitely been a new project for me.
But you know, you learn something new every day and you know, like I say at a glance it's like, oh, that's a really, really sweet looking Bronco.
And then, and then you open up the hood and you crawl underneath and you're like, oh wow, it's old school with new school.
So, you know, it sucks when you buy a project, a truck like this and then it goes into the hospital for two years and you know, investing all of this time and money.
And when you finally get to put your hands on the steering wheel and take it for a drive, it's like, I'm sure he is gonna be absolutely over the moon.
I hope he's, I hope he's, I hope he's stoked as I'm so, but the, the eco boost platform, I really like it because you get the drivability plus the, you know, if you, if you lay into it, you it'll, it'll take off and go.
And with Twin Turbo and, and the, the access to tuning capabilities that they have these days, I mean the sky's the limit with horsepower numbers.
They really are.
I mean, back in the day if somebody would say a V six, they'd laugh at them and now they'd say a V six twin turbo and it's like, oh, it wouldn't be impossible to, to see numbers in the 700 800 horsepower.
Realistically they're a pretty sweet little platform.
D day, that's delivery day, not deliverance day, just yeah, getting it ready, nice and cleaned up.
They're gonna be here around nine o'clock, so give him a 50 cent tour of his new new hot rod and then we'll go for a rep and send him on his way.
I think he's gonna be stoked the last time they were in just with, from what he had seen before to then, you know, smile from ear to ear.
So I think, I think he's gonna be happy to drive it.
I know, I, I think that was kind of on his radar the last time he was here that they wanted to take it out for a spin.
But I had some stuff apart and just it didn't happen.
So I know he's chomping at the bit.
I think he's gonna be pretty excited when he gets to finally drive.
It's been, been a long road for him.
I can't imagine having a vehicle for four years and not drive it.
Keep throwing money at it and it's like, I'm gonna go visit it, I gonna go visit it.
- It's a Sandy Fraser and it's a 71 Bronco.
Looking forward to seeing it basically torn apart and rebuilt.
So it's got, it's got the Eco boost in it for an engine.
All new suspension in it, brake everything.
Everything's brand new.
And then these guys have been finishing it.
Everything's new paint interior.
It's all new.
I think it's been three, four years I've been waiting to getting the thing in the road.
So pretty excited about it ever since I was a kid.
I've always liked the Broncos.
I, I suffice with Jeeps for a long time and then bought this thing a few years ago.
So always wanted one.
- Looks good, looks really good Wow.
I love that color - Man.
It's been a long time coming for sure.
Oh Jesus.
Beautiful.
It really is.
Yeah, it's the first time just like a couple weeks ago it was almost done.
This is excited to get it on the road.
Looks good.
Hey.
Oh wow.
Look at it here.
Looks nice.
Nice and clean, eh?
Very nice.
What a difference.
Aber.
Oh yes, the engine cover on, they'll have to move a couple ofs around so we're gonna do that when we come back.
Okay.
We just wanted to get it right.
Thanks.
But it, it was like, remember it first came in, it was spaghetti, like kilometers of wire nuts.
Oh they still, okay cool.
Still works nice.
- There is still some of the factory Ford stuff.
- When you wanna start, just go on the break, just like anything.
- Okay, so, yep.
So one, one just turn.
- Well what do you think?
I think it's awesome - And that's a what they call an LS swap.
So that's a LS motor with a six speed in this one.
Most guys are doing this route now 'cause they're taking the older motors out and putting this more modern stuff in and it's, they work quite well once they're set up properly.
- This is a 1969 Camaro.
We have installed a 6.2 liter LS engine with a six speed automatic and we put AC into it as well.
And that's about all he wanted.
Little few frame connectors were made for it and now we're test driving for test drive, watching the gauges, looking for the oil pressure, the temperature, all that kind of stuff.
And I'll bring on the cool air on the new AC as soon as we get rolling here.
And you can see with coil overs the, the ride's firm, but it's a little rough, not like back in 69 with some nice coil springs and their nice smooth ride.
Back in the day it was only a three speed and this has a six speed automatic with an overdrive, so that's an advantage.
Fuel mileage as well.
Yeah, time-wise, I think there's a good, good month to two months work on this car.
Gone into this car, we've had it for a little while and waiting for the parts and now we finally finish it off.
This is an LS engine, which is a new modern style engine, not traditionally like an old V eight.
So it's the same kind of motor that's in a newer Camaro or newer Corvette.
6.2 liter.
As you can see this is a newer 6.2 liter Corvette Camaro engine, Chrome Rad Hydro Boost Reservoir Hydrobot is there and the ac the new AC pump that was put on here.
And this is a modern type engine that everybody would see in, in their newer vehicles and not back in the day of 1969.
The hardest part is just dealing with the weight, installing the engine in tranny really, and wiring is a, a little bit of an issue, but it really, for a guy like me, it's, it goes along very easily.
Parts are a problem coming in nowadays just because of, we've just been through covid and just the manufacturers are trying to get back up on their feet again and it's gonna take some time to get things rolling back the way it was prior to to Covid.
- This is an upgrade with an LS motor and six speed automatic.
We did frame connectors and suspension work in it as well.
Sort of overall a lot of different stuff.
It was one that came in that we were supposed to have all the parts but wasn't the way it was so, but this is a, these LS conversions are a big deal now nowadays, but nice cars, any 69 Camaro is you know, in demand.
