TELESCOPES ALLOW US TO SEE THE SKIES IN WAYS WE NEVER COULD WITHOUT THEM.
TWO YEARS AGO THIS WEEK, THE JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE LAUNCHED.
I DON'’’T HAVE TO TELL YOU WHAT A HUGE DEAL THIS TELESCOPE IS BECAUSE I CAN SHOW YOU.
REMEMBER THE HUBBLE IMAGE OF THE PILLARS OF CREATION?
HERE'’’S JWST'’’S.
IT CAN SEE INFRARED LIGHT SO IT CAN IMAGE THROUGH DUST AND GAS, AND SEE THOSE LITTLE RED PROTOSTARS WHICH ARE INVISIBLE TO HUBBLE.
NOW THIS ABSOLUTE STUNNER WAS TAKEN IN JANUARY 2023 ALMOST EVERY BIT OF LIGHT HERE IS A WHOLE GALAXY OF STARS, WITH THE BIG SPIRAL GALAXY IS IN THE FOREGROUND.
IT'’’S CLOSER THAN THE OTHERS AT A BILLION LIGHT YEARS AWAY.
BUT JWST CAN SEE THINGS CLOSER TO HOME; LIKE THIS IMAGE OF URANUS'’’S RINGS.
BEFORE THIS IT WAS FORTY YEARS SINCE WE'’’D IMAGED THEM!
WITH A GOOD TELESCOPE YOU CAN SEE URANUS TOO IT'’’S IN TAURUS NOT FAR FROM JUPITER.
KEEP LOOKIN'’’ UP!
