Well, we have quite a harvest here from our little ride around.
Yeah, we did pretty good.
I'm excited to get started with all of these green well.
You think you've got something here, you can use there's kind of enough well.
You know there's always more where this came from.
I wouldn't mind hitting the forest again.
Well, we've got plenty of our native Cedar here and lots of pine, which grows all over the farm and then this beautiful.
Magnolia yeah that was a really good one we love that well that's Brackins Brown beauty.
It has a gorgeous sort of velvet underside of the leaf with lovely.
I think you're going to love it.
Yeah, that's going to be amazing.
We should do this on the stairs?
Don't you think Oh yeah that I think would be great.
The underside of the leaf is just as beautiful as the glossy topics.
Think you'll be beautiful alright?
Why don't we get this unloaded and get in the house words a little warmer maybe have a little Coco OK?
Let's get started OK alright.
My name is Holly Hyder Chapel and I'm a floral designer from Leesburg, VA.
I also mentor and teach floral design across the world and we own a farm called Hope Flower Farm.
I started in floral design because my father was a landscaper and he had a garden center and Daddy taught me how to make garlands.
Centerpieces kissing balls reason I learned how to design at Christmas by design style is typically loosen Arianne organic love to harvest from the garden.
We grow as well.
That is my preference, but because I am a seasoned designer.
I'm capable of doing all types of design.
I love everything about it.
I think it's an addiction and a passion that is just.
Once it gets inside of you, you just can't shake it.
I'm very excited about designing for Alan because I feel like our design styles are really going to mesh Ann.
I sense that everything is connected here that everything is very thought out one.
One building leads to the next and everything has a purpose, and I feel like that's the way that I design.
The 3 tips that I love the most.
I think is the answer is always in the garden.
I really believe that when we're in the midst of a design and it's not coming together and it's not as inspired.
As I'd like for it to be that the answer is in the garden.
The quality products that we use is essential.
It has to be fresh and it has to be the finest quality and I think the third thing would be color.
I known for color and so experimenting and playing with color is really what sets your work apart.
So how do you think the sale keys like their new reason I think it's pretty spectacular where you think there Joe this?
Is Joe and Esmeralda there, so beautiful aren't they great.
This is great and everything we did for them was natural and from the farm animals and addable sunflowers in the Milo.
There's so much.
Everything hidden here.
Virtually they can eat course.
These pine cones.
I love the way that you suggested using the branches across I love it makes it beautiful armature in a way for us to attach all over the.
We Dan Greenery, it's gorgeous.
I think it's perfect for them and I think they like it.
Jim is like you do a reefer Parthenon No.
I didn't.
I never thought I would be in Little Rock, with you and holding a chicken and just after decorating this gorgeous holiday wreath.
How wonderful it's beautiful.
I think the thing that surprises visitors that come to the farm is that they when I talk about how we use an artificial frame and then we just apply the natural elements to it, and it's a great form, they're very affordable.
And you can attach anything you want it really actually holds the structure in the shape so beautifully too.
So it's so it's fabulous to have reason decorate them and put them anywhere on your farm or I guess it's here.
If you don't have a farm at your home as well.
So the reason is just a beautiful symbol.
An it's perfect this time of year.
I think this wreath demonstrates that you can use just about anything you want to make a beautiful read anything that that will work with in whatever theme.
Weather its color or some other idea.
All kinds of things will work I mean, we use, Grapevine course.
Hollies traditional and then some of the old favorites like nandina.
For instance, we don't really use that anymore because it's actually poisonous to songbirds at least the berries are yes.
You were telling me about that and Nandina is one of my favourites to use no.
I love using it as well.
So now that I know that about the berries.
I'm going to make sure that I harvest them all in the spring before they actually come into fruition.
An hopefully we won't have any of the berries on the property.
If you're like me, you love to plant things that attract pollinators and even birds into your garden, but there's some plants that actually although they may be attractive to us, particularly the holiday season aren't the best for the birds.
For instance, this nandina now here it Moss Mountain Farm, which goes back to 1840.
There are a lot of plants that were planted long before we came here and then Andy knows one of them.
It's considered invasive species.
Just like privet hedge you've probably seen it with the purple berries on it.
And what we're trying to do is consolidate all the Nandina on this farm into one place and so this winter.
We're going to be moving the plants what you'll find is that the Nandina.
Berry is actually poisonous to songbirds for instance, Cedar Waxwings, which will Gorge themselves on berries in late winter and early spring can eat so many of these that it can actually kill them.
So what I like to do is to cut the berries in the winter before the Holidays and use them in decorations.
So there's no chance of the birds can eat them.
We've picked them early enough that there's plenty of other food in the forest with them to eat 'cause.
They tend to go for the things they prefer apparently these nandina berries don't taste.
All that great and it's probably a secondary or tertiary food for them, but I like to get rid of them.
Just the same.
Nandina is also called Heavenly bamboo and it comes from China and India.
the Far East and it's prone to spread.
Aggressively and it's been a southern staple.
You can find it growing in the South from Zone 7.
S all the way to zone 10 and it does make a beautiful display, particularly when you pick the berries like this and cluster them.
There's nothing brighter or more beautiful and a holiday centerpiece or a reef and these gorgeous berries, but do remember they are not the best for songbirds.
Hey Holly, I found some more.
The reindeer lichen.
Oh, this is looking amazing do you like it.
I'm loving it the colors are fantastic?
I love all the natural tones and I'm so grateful that you found this for me.
It's wonderful.
It's well.
It grows here on the farm here from the farm.
It's incredible really matches.
The underside of the Eleagnus Legion Silver, so this tone is in the ribbon too.
It's beautiful.
It's very beautiful lovely.
You know when you started this, I was amazed by how you actually created.
An armature for all of this to sort of hang from rather than using conventional foam.
There's a big switch in the world today to try and be more thoughtful to the retirement greener an the foam doesn't break down and with the evergreens.
It's the best of all mediums to practice this type of mechanic because they do hold so well so there is absolutely no foam.
This is a foam free design, which it makes me really happy to be able to produce things like this.
Yeah, well it's just gorgeous so underneath is a 2 by 6.
We chicken wired over the board zip tide.
The chicken wire on an then were able to build these large installations and because of the weight of the board, it doesn't tip over a web design opportunity for it to topple that's right a one sided design wants to flip over so this is a great way to design in your home for a mantlepiece or over a doorway as long as you have another place is fun is the recess over a door.
And it's just wonderful to do this.
The type of armature.
I love how you integrated are Swans in here as well.
I think they look beautiful with the portray this serves as such a great focal point for the entry Hall.
It is it's wonderful and this is where we will be welcoming your guests and I wanted to give them a spectacular design to see when they first arrived at the fire full will you come in the house you want it to be sensory overload, so well the fragrance of all these greens and seeing all this beautiful.
I mean, it's like 5 or 6 foot long piece had auto.
Maybe wow a few people up so I think it will I think it will it were literally decking the halls.
We haven't had that way.
It's gorgeous so when we were creating the piece.
I was careful to keep the greens away from the sconces.
I love them.
I thought they were so beautiful.
Thank you, yeah, and at the stars everything about them.
It just felt kind of holiday and the gold.
Also, it's perfect for this time of year they frame.
The Swan picture.
That's after Audobon and there's really no reason to add any greenery to it when you've got this.
Centerpiece that you've created here, so it really framed they frame it nicely thank you.
Yeah.
One of the things I wanted to consider when designing Moss Mountain, where the ceilings are ceilings or 12 foot tall in this room.
So we're going to do a hanging installation.
An Allen has these gorgeous chandeliers and I'm going to use those as the armature.
So when I start designing an installation like this, I'm going to look for a branch that has a lot of movement that's very flexible.
So this is Ellie Agnes.
I'm just going to twist, it around the chandelier and then I'll use some bind wire to attach it, but you see that's holding it in place next.
I'm going to start with Carolina sapphire, which is my absolute favorite green to use during the Holidays.
I love it's Blue Gray foliage and the movement and again.
It will be very easy to install because of its long bending branches.
Now it's just a little bit of this bond wire, which is covered in raffia so it doesn't scratch.
Next I'm going to prep the Amaryllis.
I'm going to be hanging them on the chandelier so really fun thing to do is prep these with cotton balls.
I'll actually shove cotton into the stem, which allows it to continue drinking and you can even come behind this an water.
The Amaryllis you can actually fill this up with water and then we're going to be hanging them onto the chandelier.
Now, one of the tricks to make this work because this stem is succulent and it will actually crack if I try wire around it.
One of the tricks is to use this wax tape.
It's called corsage tape and I'm going to go around creating sort of like a band aid or a place for me to attach the wire and this will mean that the wire cannot slit the stem and that'll give me a resource for hanging the Amaryllis.
Wow, this is looking great Holy Oh, you like it looks really fast.
I thought it be great to give Trudy a beautiful care about is so thoughtful, she alone.
I just know gorgeous greens.
Look, I have a really amazing surprise for you so I'd like to disclose for Maine for you OK.
I'd like to take you on a little ride with Mister T is that possible.
Let's go OK.
I can't wait thanks.
Oh my goodness how do you like it?
I love it?
It's amazing so abundant that we had so much fun making for you and we're hoping you not bad?
Do love it.
So this is where you been we've been doing.
I was looking around for you, a couple of times and they said.
Oh, you were out gathering things when you were doing more than just gathering anything.
Everything is from your property.
Oh my gosh, so beautiful large installation.
An appropriate for the scale of this word first time we've ever done anything for Christmas or red.
This is wonderful and hang in the Octagon.
I can see our statue of the goddess floor.
Looks like you've given her ****** **** Hor.
You wait until you see, she's absolutely beautiful wonderful.
Let's go take a look at white.
Wow, this is all the textures in here do you love everything I think it's really gorgeous so the Grapevine came from the farm and this was one of the only things we didn't harvest.
We found a box of these properties.
But everything else.
We went out and harvested an it's amazing or Cedar and pine and Holly and Magma Holly.
Of course I had to put some of that in there, you go a signature plant in the Magnoli used to Brackins Brown Beauty, which I love that it just looks fantastic.
Help me understand how you attached all this because I know a lot of our friends at home will probably want to do something.
Maybe not this large, but the mechanics of this are fascinating.
I always say a design needs a spine and a lot of times for the pieces that were doing.
We need an iron base plate or something this iron gate was the which is the best armature in the world and it's chicken wire an it's chicken wire just scrunched up and it.
Creates like layers, so that when you're poking in the greenery.
It gets caught up in the chicken wire and stays it gets woven and you kind of just want to push it through several several layers and zip ties are essential.
The zip ties or holding the chicken wire to the iron so that's how I handle chicken wire.
Yeah, if I didn't have those 2 items.
I wouldn't have been able to do it myself, well.
It's just it's really wonderful?
What a way to celebrate the season and as I mentioned this is the This Is It.
First time the maiden voyage I'm very glad I got to be the 1st to design.
It was a fabulous exciting opportunity.
It feels like the place that's what I love about it well.
I that's the way.
I tend to design.
I really do like things that are very natural and things finally drawn to with regard to work well good.
I'm glad I could bring it to Moss Mountain.
It's fabulous and let's talk about the Octagon table of the reasons on the outside.
They just looked fantastic.
It's beautiful brings the green real.
And look at what you've done with flora.
You look at those rose is up there.
So the last from your garden, the last of the season there.
They are in perfect red and white beautiful in a little Garland to adorn her as well as I thought she needed a little holiday touch.
She's got it.
She's beautiful.
Thank you.
It sure does it's wonderful for everything N Garland making wreath making Chrome making an inflexible it's wonderful?
And I love the silvery backside of believe yeah, it's one of my favorite foliage is great job.
This is wonderful.
I'm really glad you're happy awesome.
Trudys loving those treats Holly.
Thank you so much for coming to the farm.
Thank you.
I've had a wonderful time you really brought the holiday spirit here with all your creativity.
It's been amazing well.
I hope you'll come back.
So I'll be back.
Wonderful Alright Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas Intruding will you think you're on one another apples alright?
Thank you for joining us here.
I hope you enjoyed that portion of our garden home Christmas special.
I'm Karen Cooper here with P Allen Smith at his home.
Moss mountain farm.
We are so happy to be here and thank you for inviting us in course.
I'm thrilled you're here.
It's so beautifully decorated you really put me into the Christmas spirit.
I can't.
I'm not sure I can decorate quite this well, but I'm really excited to go home and get my house into this Christmas spirit here and we really love sharing the farm, not only is it beautiful to just look around.
But I understand it's a working farm as well, absolutely is working.
We are wonderful team folks we love having visitors that come from all over the country and we love are really talented visitors like holy who who is uh immensely creative.
I can tell that was just fabulous what she showed I kind of have a feeling you.
Both have a very strong affinity for decorating with natural elements.
Yes, thing it was interesting when we started conspiring about this back in the summer.
We were comparing plant listen.
We were sort of finishing each other sentences isn't there.
We both like to prowl around in the Woods and gather up things and put them to work.
I mean, she's really extraordinary with this idea of taking taking the ordinary an creating something superlative out of it, something very extra really.
That's the one thing that I noticed is when I think of decorating always think of a lot of Flowers.
But yeah, that greenery in especially several of those that different colored leaves from the Top to the bottom and then just how beautiful that all well.
You know, she really breaks out of this mode.
Of what we think of has to be holiday using the white amarillas and that sort of thing is really.
That was that was very special, and never even thought about that idea of how to keep them fresh by having that putting water in the way you hang them.
So I found that I hope that our viewers found that very interesting.
But we always try to show the stylistic part of things and the beauty.
Of course, but also the functionality and how you get there before you get there wants to know the how to part of it, which I think is always helpful, yeah, so.
While she was here any special or fun behind the scenes stories that you can share well.
I have to tell you care and they absolutely pull the wool over my eyes with the Rose Garden.
I didn't know they were sneaking off and doing that I started seeing green re missing the login it down there and stick it all in the entrance to the I just did a great job.
She had a lot of fun doing now and it was beautiful as we could tell so just want you all to know that viewer support is how we can bring.

But here not only do you get recipes.
But I talk about 27 vegetables that I love to grow that are easy to grow and I talk about also soil preparation.
All those basic questions that need to be resolved if you're going to grow some of your own food.

It's for your gift of $120.00 or being a Sustainer at $10 a month and about how many recipes.
Are there are 75 recipes.
Wonderful many of them came from right here at the farm and some of my favourites and were smelling.
Jamies cookies here there there, of course, everybody loves are buttermilk pecan pie, which is becoming legendary an old family recipe that I snuck into the book.
We have both of those available for your gift of $180.00 or being an on going.
Sustainer at $15 a month and it's the way that you can support a etn by giving us a call at 1-800-662-2386.
Allen that deck is really handy?
How did you come up with that idea?
Well, I think making things, easy for people, mainly myself makes it makes it really handy and I broke it down into different categories.
So there's projects in here and I mentioned earlier that there's like raised beds how to get the soil prepared even caring for your vegetables organically.
I think that is so, so very important, and also I broke it down into cool season and warm season vegetables.
That's great, especially can you talk a little bit more about the cool season vegetables right at this time period?
I know a lot of people would be probably interested in that yeah, yeah, yeah well.
There's a lot of great things that you can plant while the temperatures are cool.
In fact, they prefer it a lot of the salad greens really prefer cool weather and then the cruciferous vegetables, although that broccoli cauliflower cabbage.
All of those are so good for you.
Cal we all know about the power of Cal.
Those are all cool season vegetables.
And so, if you really think about the garden in your opportunities to grow food.
Dividing it in those 2 different kind of areas in your mind and your garden.
It gives you well.
We actually grow cool season.
Vegetables here at Moss Mountain Farm during two seasons.
We plan a fall garden.
Now we also have a very early Spring Garden.
While the temperatures are cool, yeah, and a lot of these cool season.
Vegetables can actually take a light Frost so we can drop down even below freezing and their phone and I understand that on the DVD one of the places that you visited was Mount Vernon.
A little Birdy told me that there may be some correlation between how you design.
Moss mountain related to Mountain Vernon well.
Of course, Mount Vernon is one of the great iconic landscapes in America of the home of Martha and George Washington and it's beyond being the found one of the founders garden, the father of the country, but amazing vegetable gardening, and I'm very good friends with the head horticulturist.
There Dean Norton, who is an amazing resource and I've always been inspired by that garden.
Because in those days, they had to be sustainable really, and I think that really impacted me as a young child without many visits to Mount Vernon.
I'm always very excited to see what they're doing there, and it's also historically accurate that is absolutely wonderful and I can see that here at the farm.
You know it's viewer support is how we can continue to bring special programs like garden home.
Christmas your way so really important here at an that you go ahead.
And give us a call at 1-800-662-2386 and let us know that you are enjoying.

One of Allen's wonderful cookbooks that has how many recipes in that the 7575 so covers.
Everything from entrees, too, you know, Apple jam appetizers.
All the way to desserts.
And it's broken into 4 different seasons and that is available for your gift of $120.00 or doing a sustaining gift of $10 a month or with a very generous gift of $180.00 or being a Sustainer at $15 a month.

Alan I understand in the next segment that we're going to get the recipe for Aunt Jamies Cookies.
You better believe it.
They're the best they look delicious.
So I'm looking forward to that and you'll want to stick around for this as well.
It's the next segment of Garden Home Christmas Ann Allen is going to be providing tips on entertaining for the Holidays.
Along time ago with the holiday, so near Little P Allen Smith began decorating with cheer.
Not plastic not lifeless.
I want something new, something natural impression like nature would do and so began the tradition of fresh greenery at the farm cut decorated and styled filled with so much charm.
Just because the temperatures begin to drop in the seasons change doesn't keep me from entertaining outdoors that you may go well.
You're not going to entertain during the winter outside are you well.
Yes, I think that almost mile days when it's not too cold.
It's the perfect opportunity to have friends over and enjoy nature at its best in the winter but if you do this.
There are a few things that you want to keep in mind.
It's not like entertaining in the summer.
When it's cold outside people want to be warm on the inside and there's no better way to do that, than with a warm beverage or even soup.
I like to put soup in these types of containers or they can just pour it into a Cup and of course.
I have plenty of cocoa and coffee available to them.
For instance, for tonight's party.
I've created a rustic and warm environment with my fireplace and some decor that lends itself to the Holidays.
Now, if you don't have an outdoor fireplace.
A fire pit or a CIMA.
NIA will work equally well.
No matter what you do you can't control Mother Nature?
The wind is going to blow no matter Wat.
So I like to use table covers because they have corner seems you see the snug fit will keep you from worrying about pinning or clipping them.
There also machine washable after all, the food is going to spill just like the wind is going to blow now for some of the table decorations.
I've kept it really simple and again in that rustic theme.
I took some firewood and cut them at various Heights to service pedestals for my centerpiece in accents these along with the fun holy luminaries brighten everyone spirit.
And blend right into the natural surroundings.
And, of course, if you're going to have an evening party lighting is critical again.
I wanted to keep it as natural as possible so we used candles lanterns, the fire from the fireplace as well as Christmas lights in the shrubbery.
I also have a few finger foods like christoni with Top anad as well as chips and dip.
I find it's easier for people to nibble on instead of having lots of plates and flatware.
Now, for fun.
I've created a little garnish bar for those who love hot chocolate and finally I've got everyone's favorite s'mores.
I think if your guests know there's going to be a fire.
They're probably going to expect s'mores don't you think I don't know.
Maybe I'm just telling myself because I love them.
So much so when the temperatures drop never fear.
There are lots of ideas.
You can use to enjoy that colder weather and create a memorable time with your friends and family.
You know if you're going to have a party after dusk, the whiter really make it shine is to add some illumination and some fun and clever ways lighting makes all the difference.
Now, when I have very little time and I've got to come up with something creative.
I'll often turn to this simple idea, which is just a few ingredients in anyone can do it.
In fact, it's sort of a just add water technique.
I'll show you what I mean in just a moment.
This is for the Holidays, but you could do this in the summer using the foliage of different types of plants since it's the Holidays were actually going to use some Holly berries that I picked just on the hedge is going to take these pieces, which are about 4 to 5 inches long and I'm going to place them in jars, like this and you can see that I've got a little votive floating in the Top.
These are staggered.
Heights, which lends I think a little more visual interest.
But as I mentioned this is a just.
Add water idea to start with some quart jars, you can use fruit jars.
Like I'm using here if you want sort of a rustic country.
Look and just drop in some of the foliage and berries in this case, and just fill these up like this.
And let me just add just a little more here here, we go and you just want to make sure that the foliage of the plant is just below the rim of the glass jar, all right now, it's just a matter of adding some water here, we go.
So I'm just going to fill this up now.
I do recommend that you thoroughly wash the foliage that you gotta pop in there 'cause?
What will happen is that dust or soil.
If you go into solution and will settle in the bottom of your jar and just look how pretty this is it's very clear and bright and fresh looking and the last step is simply to take one of these little tea lights and light it.
And then just set it to float in the water.
And suddenly you have a very creative light source for your table scape give it a try.
It's as simple as adding water?
And Jamie I'm so excited that you agreed to be on the show.
Thousands of people have enjoyed your cookies here at the farm.
I think last week I made 38 does make around in my sleep.
He worker well, what's wonderful about the way you go about things as you're so methodical and I think it's a recipe that anybody can pop would you mind walking through I'm happy to share?
The first thing is 2 sticks of butter and those let's just room temperature room temperature.
It has to be softened this summer.
I softened it.
Outside 20 minutes on the deck table.
It moves forward took was 20 minutes.
OK, 1 cup of dark Brown sugar, it can be light Brown.
I really like the richness of dark Brown if you want to add the quite sugar, granulated sugar white granular yes.
OK and now turn this on and let it crank at anything that you do that has a high butter.
Sugar content needs to cream thoroughly if you're making a pie crust or whatever.
We add 1 cup of canola.
Henry that large Brown egg there from one of our girls came from their farm.
There we go.
And this is 1 teaspoon of real vanilla.
Nothing stellar turn this off for just a second now right yeah.
Now I want you to explain this is I think this is very clever changed my attitude about making 38 dozen cookies a week.
This is for ingredients.
I have cup of coconut half cup of chopped pecans at cup of Oatmeal and a cup of crushed cornflakes.
All the stuff that makes them so crunchy the whole cookie process goes much faster.
How's it looking over there so I think it's ready.
Now I'll turn it off.
These have to chill in the refrigerator for about an hour so that it's easy to work with.
There's one batch already done.
OK.
I simply dip, the fork into the water and press them sort of like we've always done with the peanut butter cookies when they're flatter their crispier.
So aunt, Jamie how many cookies will this recipe.
We just did I mean, it'll make ain't S&R 96.
That'll be a lot of hungry people and so how long in the oven and at what temperature it at 3:50 it's about 18 minutes.
Everybody is a winner, I'm glad you like Merry Christmas Merry Christmas.
When you have friends over in your decorating for the Holidays.
It's good to keep everybody in the spirit so crank up the music and create some delicious refreshments.
This is one of the easiest mulled wine recipes.
You'll ever create and you cook it in a slow cooker So what I'm going to do is I'm going to turn it on high and the first thing we're going to do is take a bottle of red wine.
You don't have to use the expensive stuff with that.
I'm going to add 2 cups of Apple cider.
And then a half a cup of honey.
Of course, this honey is from right here on the farm what you want to do is you want to stir this until the honey completely dissolves in the solution.
You'll find this recipe works best if you will let these 3 ingredients come to a simmer before you begin to add the other things, now once that occurs add 2 sticks of cinnamon.
1 teaspoon of whole allspice berries are half a teaspoon of whole cloves 1/4 of a teaspoon of grated Nutmeg and then finally two other ingredients.
You want to add about 4 to 5 sprigs of Rosemary so let me just break.
These often drop them in and a cup of cranberries.
I'll let this simmer for a few minutes and then I'll just turn the dial down to warm and let it sit for about 30 minutes.
The reason I do this is that if it's boiling.
There tends to be a separation with Apple cider and the wine and so forth.
You want it all to stay in solution.
Then you can pour it up with all the bits in it or I tend to like a strain it and then garnish it with a few extra cranberries and some Rosemary it's really good now.
One thing to keep in mind.
I tend to double this recipe.
But if you doublet don't double the spices 'cause.
It makes it really too.
Strong give it a try if you're going to really enjoy it.
Of course after any party there is always the clean up.
But I don't mind.
I enjoy sharing my home with family and friends and I'm sure you feel the same way they seem to appreciate even the smallest gesture, hoping today's show.
You've come away with some ideas that will make your next gathering simple and easy for garden home.
I'm Alan Smith.
Welcome back, I'm Karen Cooper, here with P Allen Smith and we are so excited that you joined us for this very special garden home Christmas and I thoroughly enjoyed watching that recipe for jamies cookies, so in sheer delight.
She's wonderful, though I was a little taken aback at how many dozen that particular batch.
I was like wow.
She's got it figured out and folks cut love to have one of Aunt Jamies cookies and they come and tour the farm.
And there's an interesting recipe in the deck about Rosemary as an herb that's one of the important herbs.
Of course, and I show how to do an herb container and one of the great herbs that we keep here and actually have done hedges of them is with the Rosemary and you could say well.
No walking up.
Kordas Yeah, and so there's a butter cookie recipe in the deck.
It's sort of like a shortbread that has Rosemary and so Rosemary cooking there.
Really are very delicious wonderful Have you ever put Rosemary and you absolutely?
Could you could take minced Rosemary fresh and work it into the recipe?
Yeah give it that little herbal touch beyond cooking.
I'm just I'm curious how else can you use Rosemary?
I think it has an ornamental quality in the garden because in certain zones of the country certainly here were able to grow it throughout the season, OK all seasons and it can take some freezing.
This particular variety is one called Tuscan blue and there's one that's slightly hardier that is called RPRP that they claim could take even a little cooler temperature for so our friends that live in the North that would be the one that I would try outdoors.
What we typically do I've got some pet Rosemary that I keep in containers.
And those get moved in just and you can bring them inside of a cold frame or even a garage over winter and just.
Hold back on the watering well it just all of that just from one particular herb.
You know it's amazing what you can do I think that's a wonderful package that you put together in a viewer support is how programs like this garden home.
Christmas special is possible here at ATM.
We come to you proudly to ask for your financial support so that we can continue to bring you not only these specials, but also the programs that you enjoy throughout the rest of the year so.

I really loved that, whole show about decorating an A loved the outside.
That was just really awesome, but also inside and.
With all of that greenery.
How do you keep that all fresh when you're entertaining maybe you've got 2 different things going on at different times and and want to keep that wonderful outdoors.
Looking good well.
I mean at some point in pens on how long of a season.
You have course one little secret with what we do here with Reeves and things like that garlands.
We have some artificial frames and we integrate foliage into that whether it's the pine or the Cedar.
In the same way with garlands.
It's easy to wrap those around the stems.
Those Fresh Bitzan Hangan.
It covers or mask.
The artificial we really try to be a sustainable as we possibly can, but cutting and bringing things in regularly as part of it.
You just have to do that.
One of the tricks.
I've learned over the years is using an anti transparent for instance, with Christmas tree first you want to hydrate the tree.
What we suggest is that you cut the tree off as soon as you get it back to the house set it in water overnight even might take a hatchet sort of cut on the bottom of it will take so take more water in order to fully hydrated before you bring it in and then you can spray it with an anti transparent and all that does is really closes up the pores on the needles of the terms of the Evergreen.
This works for any kind of foliage.
You can use these sprays are easily found at your local hardware store and they really work.
It just seals.
The moisture in the foliage OK, so that's one thing.
The other is just kind of common sense.
You know, keeping fresh greenery or Flowers for that matter away from sources of heat, so you don't want to put your Christmas tree near the vent for instance, or the fireplace right so you want to keep the temperature cooler in the house, which I like anyway, yeah, so that's very good to do that as well, and then a variety of foliage somethings like Magnolia are large Magnolia leaves.
They last for a long time.
It's been so educational for me, I hope it's been educational for you, you know viewer support.
This is how we can bring you these kinds of programs and specials like Garden Home Christmas.
Atn really strives hard to bring you these special programmes.
We strive to bring you lots of great programs throughout the year in viewer support is how it happens.
