land a tower with people who tell the planes when they can take off in land and Hangers no not clothes hangers these hangers are where airplanes are stored when they're not flying it's like a garage for airplanes airplanes are incredible how can something so big fly in the sky we'll find out today but first let's meet our friend Fabiola one of the people who flies airplanes I'm a pilot and a pilot is basically a person who's professionally trained to fly airplanes helicopters and other types of aircraft Pilots need to know all the different parts of a plane I'll go ahead and take you guys along the um outside of the airplane and we'll talk about all the different parts of the airplane okay fantastic here we're at the nose of the aircraft and down here yes right here's the nose and usually right here there's a radome which is um helps us get the weather um and if we come down here this is where the landing gear doors are and so this is the nose gear and it goes up in here when we take off and when we're getting ready to land it comes down and so this is where it it gets enclosed Happ with the back wheels too yep same thing with the back wheels you see how they have a little door so they go in and out and you see that little medical and does that sco them up yes so the wheels will come in and then the doors will close what do you see on the side of the airplane yes so all of these are probes so we've got a pedo tube and tat probes and those help with calculating the air speed so how fast we're going to fly and also getting the temperature so we'll know what the temperature is outside how many windows do you see how many windows are in here one 2 three four five six so how many people do you think six people on this side and maybe six people on the other side right here if you see it looks like a it's like a fan that is the one of the engines this plane has two jet engines so it means it's a very powerful plane versus a prop plane which has the propeller that you can see and it's outside it's pointy and so that's how you know the difference between a jet plane and a prop plane prop planes also tend to be smaller and they don't fly nearly as high as a jet engine I what about that great big tail where do they use the tail for so you've got the horizontal stabilizer and the vertical stabilizer and that's this one that moves like this so everyone go like this this is vertical put your hands vertical vertical vertical stabilizer and then the horizontal stabilizer horizontal and we're going to play a game all right move your arms vertically move your arms horizontally vertical horizontal vertical horizontal good job now that we've seen the outside of a plane let's check out the inside even Pilots need a seat belt good you got your seat Bel on now let's put our headset on and then this is what you would use to talk to other airplanes the tower this right here is the yolk and this is what turns the airplane in the air so you can go ahead and try and turn it left and right yeah that's how you control the airplane in the air this right here is the throttle this is how you get the power to move the airplane forward to take off and and lift off into the air this is to start the engine so you've got the start button here left engine and the right engine to start the place where the pilot and the co-pilot sit is called the cockpit it has a lot of buttons and dials and screens that Pilots learn how to read this is uh an image of us and basically it's showing you which direction we would be going so that's saying North is this way and these are different points where we could navigate to and so it's basically your navigation map if there were any children that are interested in aviation I would tell them that you can do whatever you set your mind to so if this is something that you're interested in doing go for it there's actually no age requirement when it comes to starting to learn how to fly airplane so all of the kids we had today on Kid Vision could actually start training to learn how to fly as early as their age the only requirement is that in order for them to solo an aircraft they have to be at least 16 years old but in the meantime they could get on a plane and fly they could follow an instructor yeah that's awesome you might not be ready to fly a real plane but you can make and fly a paper airplane we we are going to make our own airplanes with the kid Vision kids and my friends Jonathan and Davidson have you ever made a paper airplane before well this is how the dream started with a paper airplane that's awesome dreams start with paper airplanes that is amazing and then look what you have that's my good job what was your most exciting moment my most exciting moment was about 10 years ago ago the moment that my instructor gave me the ability to fly by myself that is a reason to celebrate congratulations thank you are you a pilot also Davidson I am not a pilot any um I am an aerospace engineer wow what is what does an aerospace engineer do so an aerospace engineer designs and develops aircraft and aircraft components Davidson also runs an organization that gets kids interested and excited about careers an aviation there's four forces of flight would you like to tell us about cuz for these flight it takes four things so for every Ence to fly four forces have to be in effect right we talk about the first one which is the LIF LIF LIF is what pushes the airplane upward right and it's being developed on the wings correct so you want to get the air under the wings that's why there's Wings on the airplane and why is the nose why is it important that the nose is is narrow cuz I know all these airplanes the nose is narrow yes that's um to reduce drag so the a is usually aerodynamically shaped to reduce the effect of drag you see so it can fly more efficiently and faster so we have lift we have drag and what else do we have well we have lift we have track and in this case we're going to have the weight which is the part that pulls the plane down so everything that goes up needs to come back down but I think the most fun in flying a paper airplane is the thrust can you tell us about thrusting the plane sure the thrust is what moves the airplane forward in this case we're going to be applying thrust by throwing it but you see in most a you see around the thrust is being generated by the J engines for the propeller which is actually pushing the Aon forward and helps it develop lips to fly but here we need our arms indeed indeed powered by our arms visiting an airport and learning about airplanes pilots and aerospace engineering was amazing thank you so much for teaching us all about airplanes and Aviation you're welcome you want to say goodbye bye [Music]
